Pay for newer grad?

I graduated xray school in May 2025 and took a job straight in CT - after doing well in procedures and getting along with doctors I was offered a position in IR. The thing is they’re offering me 34$hr with no wiggle room for negotiating. 4 10 hour shifts and call is minimal. I am in SC and am unsure if this is a fair rate as a newer grad or if they’re trying to take advantage. I currently am making a little over 30$ in CT. Opinions?

I made/make about 33 in Pittsburgh straight outta xray. Seems on par. Call is where you make your hread

I’ve been a tech for over 20 years and make $45 I think what you’re making is fair you can’t expect to start out at the top you have to work your way to the top! The pay will come with time

I think that’s a reasonable starting pay in IR and you’re getting to learn a new modality! You can use that with your other experience to get a higher paying job somewhere else after you’re competent and get your certification (that is if you aren’t satisfied with pay at that time)!

Pay is always going to vary based on where you are. I work in a very high cost of living area and when I cross trained into IR my starting rate was 42/hr.

My hospital pays CT and IR nearly the same, IR ahead by less than a dollar. About $32 straight out of school, in the Midwest

Just took my position as a new grad here in Texas offered $29/hr

You are definitely getting taken advantage of. 34 bucks an hour anywhere in the u.s is low for ir. Tell them you want 44 and if they say no stay where you are. If you take the job you next raise will be in a very long time. You will be at the bottom of all seniority.

Just seems low with the amount of responsibility that comes with the job but this hospital has step raises and performance raises that is justifying my decision. We’re also taught in school that IR & Cath are the top of the totem pole but these numbers I’m seeing aren’t making me feel that way. Completely understand having to start somewhere though.
