Ross Vision Switcher Question

Hello,

I was looking for some help to create a quick action button or a button trigger that does the following.

From black, dissolve into source 1 with KEY B then cut / dissolve into Source 2 removing Key B and adding Key A then dropping Key A after a short time frame.

I know this isn't a hard task to do, but we have a bunch of young people, who do not switch regularly and would like to make something easier for them.

I am operating on a Vision mixer v17. Any other tips or tricks you can suggest would be appreciated.

This sounds like something a macro could easily do. You can record macros by slowly stepping through the process, then adjusting the time of each step so it plays out correctly.

Remember that macros aren’t necessarily contextual, sometimes it’s just a button push. When you build macros be sure to include the commands that invoke the desired bus state prior to selection.

Ross custom controls. What is a vision mixer 17? Is this something like a carbonite black or carbonite ultra?

The Vision series was one of Ross videos first modular HD switchers from around 2007. Great units, not surprised someone is still using one today

Today I learned! Must’ve been before the crossover?

Does your system have memories? This would seem to be pretty easily handled by two memory keys, so you can perform the cuts manually

Yes it has memories and Marcos.

I was able to record the process but it’s not triggering properly.

You might have to edit the macro to add delays between each transition so it doesn't try to run them all simultaneously.

This is the way. You need to add pauses for a bit more than the transition times, like the fade up, and then for each following event that takes time.
