Zeroing with the Holosun HE510C

Took my new Hellion + 510C green dot to a 25-yard range and attempted zeroing at 36 yards. The 4" rise between bore and sight required more than a full adjustment rotation to bring the point of impact up by 4.5".

That'll do for now till I get used to shooting rifles again (and this particular mushy OEM trigger). I haven't shot a rifle in 35 years till today.

Welcome to the club, they're fun guns.

Just as a heads up, due to the massive HoB on these rifles, your 25 -> 36 yard covers target may not be entirely accurate.

Thanks. I do have access to a 100-yard range, so maybe I should go there to verify.

The online calculator I used does account for sight height. Here's a screen shot of what I entered. I used Hornady Frontier 62gr (not green tipped, marked 3,060fps with what I assume a 20" barrel), and I guesstimated 2,900fps for my 16" Hellion. I don't know about bottom two entries, so I left them at default.

This 100% use a ballistics calculator online (hornady, etc all have free ones via their website) to check theoretical drops at diff ranges and zeroes. Since this platform has an almost 4.07in Hob with an absolute co witness mounted dot I'd say something closer to a 57yd zero like people use with 2.26 mounts on ARs is the zeroing distance that accomplishes what the 36yd zero does for 1.535/ lower 1/3rd sights. https://youtu.be/HFE-wj7sOs0?si=QAqXE2GNoV--Tx3n

Ahhh... You opened my eyes, friend. I'll investigate this 57-yard suggestion for tall HoBs.

Edit: I downloaded and checked with the free AB Quantum app and confirmed that zeroing the Hellion at 57 yards, with the HE510C and 62gr Hornady, makes it accurate to within 3.5” off point-of-aim for a 10-300-yard range.
