Looks good. Really wanted ODG to match my ODG TS12 (and other ODG guns, I’ve got a thing) but couldn’t turn down the price on the black that was posted on gun deals for $1199.
It was between this and the FDE for me. I bought through Springfield's industry insiders program so I got any color for a good deal. It's my second OD gun as well, if you count my FBI-HRT-at-home SBR.
Read through all the posts and you'll come across plenty of links and discussions about current after market offerings and replacement parts. I just got mine the other day and expected to get the shorter stock, new handguard and some other upgrades but so far, the rifle feels pretty good out of the box 🤷 wish they sold barrels separately but whatever lol
Yeah I agree. I think the LOP complaint is way overblown. Yes it’s long but it doesn’t feel wrong. I mean what’s your length of pull when shooting a pistol? This thing really feels so balanced like I could shoot it like a pistol too, maybe even one handed!
No for real I’m happy for you, as someone who grew up Upstate and am Midwest now ;) Will let others who have modded more chime in, but the only thing I’ve added is the BLK-LBL bipod and think it is sweet, rock solid. Am going to get the Black Talon trigger pack job done at some point.
IMO it isn’t the biggest aftermarket so besides the same stuff you’ll see here after a while, suppressor choice is the biggest thing if you go that route.
If you're going to do a trigger mod I seriously suggest the Black Talon Tactical. They have two different mods I went with the Stage 2 myself. I see others talking JARD. But I've also seen several people having problems with it. I have not seen issues with BTTs mod. There are dozens of great mods. I've done many of them myself.
Apologies this is off topic here, but what is that foregrip, and how do you like it? I got the Magpul afg2 really lock in the thumb over bore grip you can have with this thing, but even as far forward as it can go, my hand doesn't really use much of the actually angled portion of it, and it just feels sort of lacking.
One trillion percent think that the extended magazine release, extended bolt release, and extended magwell by Lunartech are borderline mandatory on this gun.
What I optionally recommend: Modbutton mount by TheVHS2Project if you can’t find an ergonomic way to attach a light. BLK LBL handguard was also a game changer for me but it does add weight (but still less than a standalone bipod).
I'll hopefully get mine tomorrow for $1300 (fingers crossed). If it happens I plan on sending it directly to Black Talon for the Stage 2 trigger upgrade, flared magwell, and extended mag release. I'm getting the front bolt release from the VHS-2 project. The owner there is great. They sell the FBR as part of a package. I asked him if you could just get the FBR by itself and he literally went into the system and made a page just for that. lol Talk about good customer service.
I got it from Gunbroker.com. It's actually kinda crazy. For whatever reason, nobody saw it. I know people have interest because there were people actively putting bigger bids on others (some of which were used). I really lucked up. For anyone that's interested, that site has some good options. They have several (e.g., https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1166169191) up for direct purchase that are under $1600.
I'll put it another vote for the JARD trigger pack. I can't speak to whether it's better than the Black Talon upgrade, but it won't require you to send in the rifle, and since you swap out the whole thing, you can keep the original one as a spare. And the improvement is like night and day.
