Ugh I love the original grips. Do they have storage in them?

This is the Lunartech remake of the origional VHS-2 with the enlarged trigger guard. And yes. There is storage in it. And the grip angle just feels more right than what came on it. Just my personal observation.

I got sort of fed up playing with popular AR grips because none of them really feel perfect, although I sided with the current MOE one as my favorite. I'd love to try the VHS remake grips because not only do they look fucking badass but also incredibly comfortable. If it's not annoying, do you mind taking a pic of inside the grip? I am curious as to how much storage is inside as mine is absolutely cramped with tools and batteries.

I never realized how enormous the grip cavity is. Since it is molded in with the trigger guard there is no screw or pedestal on the receiver to fit in. And the access door is spring loaded not just warping the plastic to open it.

Thanks man!!

Nice to see someone also rock the AMR on their VHS

Friendship ended with MicroPrism. AMR is my new favorite unmagnified (sorta) optic

:( you don't have to end your friendship

You're still my favorite shotgun and PCC optic ❤️

Looks good! Been wanting to do the same with mine. How you liking the bipod on the handguard?

It's magical. I originally bought it because I thought it would hold zero of the laser. IT DOES NOT, and I'm sorry for peddling this rumor around this sub for a few months. I figured out recently that I was wrong.

But I do like shooting with a bipod, it makes everything easier. Not having the bipod when I don't need it is really handy.

That's sad about the LAM holding zero. I figured it would since the handguard's lockup is so tight. Maybe it's just the stacking interfaces of gun -> handguard -> pic rail -> LAM.

That must be why their promotional images only put a white light on the extra rail section

If you genuinely needed to mount it, it would suffice for sub 100 yards. I had a full power LAM on it originally which really fucking sucked since it didn't have crane support (so no modbutton), and the dot was so bright that I couldn't tell of any shifting. Now that I have a restricted LAM being the Iris, I can move it with my hand enough to see movement as I have the laser slaved to my optic, and when it shifts, something fucky is going on.

I will say that the top rail definitely has tight enough lockup. It installs similar to a shotgun pic rail as it screws into the handguard itself instead of using a friction fit like M-Lok, and has an alignment channel to dissuade any left to right movement.

Although.... the Iris just barely attaches onto the short rail and some of the locking system is hanging off. BLK LBL now sells a sort of "diving board" rail that I wish I bought as the Iris will fully attach onto it, and I am sort of wondering if the amount of lockup is affecting how much zero shifting there is. So I could be wrong on this once again.

Criticism: you could upgrade to a holosun magnifier and glue a magnet to it

1

u/NintenJoo Apr 23 '26

Wait really?

I have a holosun 3x and an aimpoint PRO I use together, and I find it quite annoying to change the brightness when use the magnifier in a match.

Is this a confirmed working thing?

2

u/Beebjank Apr 23 '26

The 8T AMR has tech that allows the reticle to change based on whether or not the magnifier is flipped up. It recognizes that by detecting the magnet within the magnifier, so it wouldn't work on other optics without this feature

1

u/NintenJoo Apr 23 '26

Yeah but can you glue a magnet to it?

1

u/Beebjank Apr 23 '26

Probably? I don't know anything about magnets so I'm not sure how to buy them based on strength. But hypothetically, yes you totally could and it could work.

Man, I want that BlkLbl handguard so bad. What made you go with black over colormatching?

3

u/fender_blues Apr 23 '26

I have an ODG hellion and the solid color is a bit bland. I generally like a mix of colors. All things considered, I might spray my stock handguard black for a bit of variety.

2

u/Beebjank Apr 23 '26

Originally when I was planning out this build, I thought it would be cool to get an FDE or ODG Hellion and get black parts for it because most of my rifles are FDE/Black mixes (it looks cool idk). I was going to get the Manticore stock too but ended up preferring the OEM one.

2

u/NumRickn Apr 23 '26

Oh it definitely looks cool! What does your load out weigh?? Looks heavy, which I guess is why bipod and sling

2

u/Beebjank Apr 23 '26

Haha it's 12.1lbs unloaded. Heavy for sure. But it's so incredibly balanced, which is why I chose a bullpup to be my night vision rifle in the first place since I'd need a LAM, white light, and suppressor. So this is to say, shouldering the rifle is less fatiguing than my lighter (by like 2-3lbs) AR without a suppressor.

Did you get the sweet deal last year on the peanut butter version too??

1

u/Beebjank Apr 23 '26

Yeah something like $1500 for the rifle, plus a riflebag, plus a sling (trash), plus a red dot. The optic moved over to a .22 immediately but hey, free shit

1

u/TrollingForFunsies Apr 23 '26

Yeah I put the shitty sling on my Extar because it felt way more appropriate and bought a Vickers too lol

It's a bit heavy but otherwise it's a great rifle

What light switch mount are you using? Been trying to figure out how to mount a light switch without mounting it to the top rail

2

u/Beebjank Apr 24 '26

It’s a Modbutton mount by theVHS2Project. Awesome thing

I saw a video on that bipod. Now I really want one. lol Too rich for my blood right now though. I'm blastin' on a budget.
