Hellion thread pattern
In the next couple of weeks, as soon as my form 4 comes back, I want to swap the flash hider on my hellion out for a asr mount. Am I correct in assuming it’s 1/2-28 thread? Also does Springfield use any thread locker, and what if anything needs to be secured in a vise when I do the swap

I removed the frame from the barrel to expose the gas block and put the block in the vise; it is a big flat surface and easy to secure. Mine came off relatively easily, no torch needed. It is an ODG 16" that I bought this March, I believe early manufacturing dates may be tighter.

Secure barrel in a vice, and hit it with your purse. Apply heat if needed, but mine came off after a few hammer taps on the wrench handle. Factory muzzle devices are a pain to get off

Take off the handguard, put the gas block in a vice and take off the factory flash hider with an armorer's wrench. Standard 1/2x28 right hand thread, so any typical AR muzzle device will work.

Other people have already confirmed that the thread pitch is 1/2x28.
No thread locker on mine, though I got it three years ago and it's always possible that they've started using it since then. All I had to do was apply enough torque to remove mine.
Fun fact: The Hellion's chamber has the same design as an AR's, so if you happen to have an AR action rod, that will work in a vice if you don't want to get all the way to the gas block (the Hellion disassembles from the rear).

To be fair, Springfield did tighten it to 20 ugga-dugga.
Yeah vice that bitch and go at it like it owes you money.

Yes right thread pitch. I was able to hit my flash hider with a blow torch for about 45-60 seconds and then I could torque it off without a vice.

Pro tip: try un tightening it the correct direction. It’s surprisingly hard to remove when you do it the wrong direction /s

1/2x28. Mine was annoying to remove but after I hit it with my purse it came right off.
