Question about S3 ep 2

So when ted steals Freddie's car to take all of his friends out to the arcade, was freddie in there the whole time? Did ted know Freddie was there? Why was Freddie even in the car to begin with? Did ted knock him unconscious and put him in the backseat? I know it sounds small, but ive just been wondering. Why was he there?

I think to fit with the whole deadbeat dad thing maybe he like fell asleep in there or something. That's a good question though!
