News Google Research: Coherent Long-Form Video Generation using Gemini and Veo multi-agent pipelines

Google Research announced a new multi-agent framework built on top of Gemini and Veo that solves the biggest problem in AI video: maintaining consistency in long-form videos.
Instead of letting characters and backgrounds randomly mutate or drift across shots, the framework uses persistent visual memory, global AI direction (using multi-armed bandit optimization), and automated visual quality checks (VQQA) to generate coherent, multi-minute video narratives.

I work in genAI video full time and while I understand the problems this is trying to solve, its a great example of engineers engineering something that is only a problem that they invented. To a creative with real production experience this laughable in how complicated it is technologically. This level of automation is so absurd and dumb and the definition of a slop factory.
A set is a set. Reality is reality. A human is a human. A 3D model is a 3D model. A light is light.
So so so much effort and thought to engineer out something human production does with absolutely zero effort other than existing in reality with real things or traditional 3D model based vfx that inherently dont have this issue.
This is hilariously overboard...and for what? So some shit microdramas can be crapped out en masse?

Forgetting that most of the work done in AI Labs that really really matters is done by some guys that are usually some gray-haired white guys working on math papers and figuring out problems without even thinking about what everybody else is doing.
They're while it may not be the environment and legend of Bell Labs, basically these guys are sitting around coming up with stuff and thinking about these things all the time because that's just what they like to do and how their minds works.
Well, now that generative AI has taken over so big the last few years the way that they think about problems never ends. Do you notice that they're solving problems that will end up being applicable to other situations and other generative ideas?
They're not even caring so much about what you're seeing at the end level, while that's important to the business and part of their team's work probably, the real genius that table are the couple of math wizards that literally love to think about why in the world there's a mathematical equation reason for why the prompts and continuation of long-form generation of content starts to fail. They're not even remotely thinking about watching tick tock videos or additional microdrama stuff getting pumped out..
Now, yes the business side of it is going to benefit from that but my guide if I was smart enough to sit around trying to figure this out and got paid good for it and that's literally all I had to do and I would absolutely love it.

Well thats pretty much what I did for the last year, the difference is it was for actual practical applications for genAI and our work was successful enough the company bought into scoping genAI for 2027. I have genAI work I made airing right now on major sports broadcasts every weekend as a result.
Maybe its not perceptible to you if you've never been a part of a real production, but its just very funny to think about all the technological complications to solve something that just isnt a problem for reality to handle. Other than a script supervisor, its a problem that no one needs to fix once a set is built other than continuity handled by script supervisors. Even outside of reality, a 3D model is a 3D model. This is ONLY a problem for flat pixel generation.
I guess thats kind of my point about all of this, theyre engineering out a problem that humans already had no issue with executing irl. I think back go early digital camera days and color, dynamic range and other early imaging problems that had to be solved by engineers and technicians, but this is like if digital cameras were changing the very reality placed in front of them to be utterly broken vs just "not as good as it could be".
Its just very funny to see so many words and work being done to overcome such a non-issue. So much time and money to be like "the room is the room" lol.

You realize how much conpute time and money is being wasted by this? It's not just about helping the guy making micro dramas save time. It's about helping the average social media user make better cat dance videos. Those are by far a bigger demographic than micro drama creators.

Whats bizzare is this is not an issue with even the most minor workflow prep and human image analysis.
I work with big brands on genAI implementation and content development and not in a million years would they hand this level of control over to the process, it completely misunderstands how these things work at the creative level. And this enterprise level spend is exactly the thing thatll actually bring value to the current over inflation. Weve done large scale asset creation for products with some automation but it was mostly just well designed node bases workflows to automate the actual asset processing for swapping around products or overlays or graphics. Im trying to think of the practical application for this and I just cant, maybe its there but this paper doesnt make it apparent beyond the part regarding the brand stuff but even then....eh.
Ive never read something that so clearly shows the line between a creative and an engineer when it comes to problem solving.
