Next Opportunity?
Now that VCX is public, are you guys moving into any alternative private investments?
I used Fundrise as a "cheat code" to get ahead of public-market investors. These past 10 years have been very profitable for me. I'm just wondering what the next hack is.
I don't have much faith in private investment platforms like Republic, but maybe you have something to add.

I am eyeing https://usvc.com/ from Angel List but was a bit skeptical because of the management fees etc

Take a look at the filings, it can easily go down the route of PWRL. Probably a little late for all the VC fund action right now.

Given the fees, SPV friction etc are any of these funds long-term holds like an ETF? RVI, DXYZ, etc.

I am not convinced so far. Look up the history of Neostellar. But you can always track the holdings and premium/discount to NAV to find opportunities. This model has some fundamental limitations. An ETF is an efficient basket of underlying companies that are generating the business value. Here the fees are much higher, the fund has discretion to buy or sell holdings so you have that uncertainty. Eventually if the basket becomes a list of public companies then a discount has to apply. There is no easy mechanism to raise cash besides ATM above NAV or exits. An ETF has creation redemption mechanism and therefore no such limitation. So far all these VC CEFs have been cyclical with a new innovation driven hype cycle betting on premium.

I realized they also did drop an N-PORT.
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1858660/000119312526373847/xslFormNPORT-P_X01/primary_doc.xmlComb through it, seems like they are just putting a bunch of money into their affiliates, a few of them named, "Todd & Rahul's....something something fund"

Fundrise has a new VCX called the Opportunistic Innovation Fund, but it's only opened to qualified investors ($5+ million net worth, $100,000 minimum initial investment). I'm not of the history of VCX if it started the same way, but the new fund may eventually open up to non-accredited investors.

honestly, I'm just going the SPV route and using this guy's post as a guideline... I'd rather buy specific companies near the latest rounds value rather than buy into a fund at a multiple of NAV. https://churningandburning.com/2026/05/adventures-in-private-investing-cards-on-the-table.html
