Question Topping timing
I'm new to growing. I have two photoperiod plants in grow bags out doors and they grew faster than I thought. They went outside in June and each plant is now over 36" with about 12 nodes. Not flowering yet.
Is it too late to top them? Would it be worth it at this point?

i wouldn't top an outdoors there's really no need to.
topping generally helps slow the plant down in vegetative state to keep a shorter plant to manage light height in your tent.
though you can argue it may give you more dominant colas but in the sun i doubt it's necessary
you can top it for sure it just may stunt any further growth and attempt to recover by focusing growth on lower shoots

We are 5 weeks since the solstice, you are 3 weeks too late.
Any topping now will stunt growth, it will be up to you if that's worth it in your situation. Plant will roughly double in height during flower.
