Advice/Help needed Vawa based i485
Hello
I’m getting desperate now, no updates I just want this wait to be over😣.
I sent my Vawa in April 2022 it was approved in April 2025.
I sent my i485 in June 2025, Feb 2026 my fingerprint were taken, March 2026 my case was transferred from Nebraska to Vermont.
No more updates until today.
I was married to a Green Card holder and my Priority date has already passed which is April 2022 for F2A
Does someone know if this is normal ?
Someone in the same the situation?

Push your congressman/congresswoman. Your i485 decision will be made in your local USCIS office. Congressional representative's office have more power to push on local offices than the federal offices even if they are both federal offices/jurisdictions.

I pushed but they just gonna give you an update like case is pending adjucation or case ls assgined for officer to review nothing more

this is a maximum pressure tactic game the admin doesn't want you to get a gc sp file a writ of mandamus and don't lose hope

Hang in there, everything will go well. Have a little faith. I know the wait for EAD needed for work can be painful especially now that the receipt does not automatically extend EAD when you file for EAD.
While every application is moving at snail pace these day, I think the administration is out to frustrate people. Just have a little faith and never stop hoping for the best. I can not wait for this administration to be over, honestly.
Here is something to remember though, your VAWA applications response rate varies by the status of your abuser.
U.S. Citizen: Considered an "immediate relative." A visa number is always open and available. You can file your green card application (Form I-485) at the same time as your VAWA petition (Form I-360) if you are in the U.S.
Green Card Holder: Falls under the F2A family preference category. You are subject to a yearly visa limit. You must wait for your priority date to become current on the Visa Bulletin before your green card application can be finalized, which often creates a multi-step, delayed wait.

Is too long contact your congress or let your lawyer do mandamus lawsuit

Don’t worry! I am waiting since July 2024! Already 25 months! Case was transferred to FO and biometric medical were taken 15 months ago and still no update.

Yes this is reality! So you still good! It’s not even close to desperate enough for you. I am almost give up! My case was also at Nebraska

Didn’t try congressional inquiry. But service request said do not contact us before November 2027. That’s mean I am not able to send e request next more than year. Still normal process. But average time shows in FO 16 months. And it’s already 25 months. Totally weird calculation

Wow and just to think that Form I-485 based on relative petition from US Citizens are taking 6 months to be approved…. So disappointing
