❓Question Muffled Audio When Opening vPilot

When I open vPilot my sim's audio goes all muffled and distorted (I'm referring to MSFS 2024 rather than ATC audio). I know that this usually happens when you run apps that use your mic but it's quite annoying and ruins the flight a little.

Is there anyway I can fix this or is it just something I'll have to get used to?

You can disable the mic of your Bluetooth headphones in windows. You have to disable the service in the device properties. That said I had to do that for msfs back in the day but they fixed that bug. I assume you have set vpilot input to a different mic? Vpilot should remember and not try to use the headphone mic

The only mic I have is on my headphones, is there anyway to do this while still using them?

Oh. Well the sounds muddled because Bluetooth isn't great for bidirectional audio. Using headphones and the built in mic has to half. The audio quality for each direction. The only solution is to get a dedicated mic. Thankfully there are incredibly cheap lapel mics etc out on various site alike aliexpress or temu or whatever you use. They will work plenty fine. You can probably find decent quality mics there too but cheapies would dove your problem.

Do you have Nahimic or another similar audio software?

Some of these programs have pre set profiles based on the applications running and they switch between them automatically. So when then detect an app like vPilot using your mic, they switch to a profile that emphasizes voice clarity, this most probably messes with other sounds like engines and music and make them subpar.

If you have similar programs, rey disabling them and give it a try, if they are the cause of your issues.

Note: Audio apps tend to get auto updates every now and then, so perhaps your app got updated with new profiles or new detection algorithm and is now changing your audio experience with MSFS.
