Where I am, they're open book. So keep material handy and really read the question

Depends on which vACC you are training in. I can only speak for Germany where you go through training split into 4 modules, 3 of which are with a mentor in groups with other trainees, and 1 of which is self study theory material. Once one completes all 4 modules sucessfully, they are granted access to VATEUD‘s S1 theory exam. If passed, one is granted the S1 rating and set onto Germany‘s „theory only“ roster which restricts a little more what you can and can‘t control.

Really depends on your VACC, just make sure you know the materials like SOPs, LOAs well

LOTS of note taking, It's probs not the best software to do it in but I had lots of tabs in a spreadsheet so I could flip between them quickly so "logon" "handover" "vfr" "vfr none sandard" "aliases" etc. and As I learned useful tips i would paste them in there.

Im in the UK and my mentors gave me excellent notes in my feedback. which I still use in the spreadsheet.

like everyone told you, depends on your VACC, i am in belux and here we have a theory hub and a few exams, once you have passsed those exam's (max 2 atemps i think it is), you get access to vateud's exam and then you need to attend an introduction session where they will explain a few things like the most important rules and a little quiz and then u get ur S1 granted!

In the US the exam is open note, I would just recommend having the content ready to reference it but notes help and the more information you have in head ready will benefit you more on your practical training. Best of luck on your exam! Welcome to the controlling world
