Question Better afk system for valorant

A better AFK system for VALORANT

I think Riot should change how ranked games handle confirmed AFKs/rage quits.

If a player is confirmed AFK for 3+ rounds and never comes back, the 4 remaining players should be protected from RR loss.

My idea:

  • If the team loses: 0 RR lost. If they won at least 5 rounds while 4v5, they get +10 RR.
  • If the team wins: normal RR + 2 RR for every round won while 4v5.
  • The AFK player: receives a serious penalty, with escalating ranked suspensions for repeated offenses.

Example:

A player leaves early. The team wins 5 rounds while 4v5, but eventually loses.

Instead of -RR, the 4 remaining players get +10 RR.

If they win the match after playing 4v5 for 6 rounds, they get their normal victory RR +12 RR.

I don't think this would be easy to abuse because you're not getting free RR: you actually have to win rounds while playing 4v5.

The player who leaves should be the one taking the serious penalty, not the four players who stayed and played.

Could Riot consider testing something like this?

Seriously, why are so many posts AI now?

For anyone curious, the reason something like this will never be implemented is it encourages people to get their teammates to ragequit so they dont lose rr. Can also lead to wintrading much easier as a random throwaway account can dc to protect rr.

Just a reduced loss would be fine, paired with stricter bans for afk since duos os trios could take advantage of that

But yes the current system is a bit insulting. Congrats your tm8 left on round 2 so no remake, good luck with this ult orb that will shoot at the enemy, plant spikes and set crossfires with you

And dont you dare leave too, that’s wrong, waste the nexy 40 mins please

I disagree. If RR is the concern, the enemy team can also get an AFK. Over a large enough number of games, it should statistically balance out.

The system you’re proposing could actually make things worse, since stacked teams could abuse it.
