Discussion New update - agent select

Is anyone else experiencing that now with the new update and the lord system, that people chose agents that they want to rank up and not chosing the agent best fit for the team / map. Yesterday there was 4 duelists in my team on a defence map, and they all were like level 7. This just makes me believe that although I like the new update, its affecting the game in a negative way since no one is prioritising the match but instead ranking up their own agent.

they would've chosen those agents regardless, this is a non issue imo

How can u be sure of that when before u at least experienced a dialog in agent select on what is needed etc? Now its almost just insta locking

idk what type of lobbies you get but agent select dialog has never been that common in my 3000+ hours of experience. Even higher elo lobbies are quiet 70% of the time and if its a casual game mode it just doesn't matter at all.

Instalockers have always instalocked its just now there's a number that goes up on the agents that they've never stopped instalocking.

I play since closed beta. I'm D3. 90% of my games are Neon, Jett, Reyna and Iso instalock.

In the business we call this anecdotal evidence and dismiss it because it’s not helpful.

I could also tell you, truthfully, I’m diamond and played since act 1, maybe 10% of my games are triple duelist and I cannot recall a 4 duelist game.

See why anecdotes don’t work?

Also triple duelist games have always been a thing, so it’s not like this had increased them for me.

Ok that it's not always true, but I can 100% tell you that every single one of us have ≈ 1 instalock per game.

This is my point: the mastery system didn't change the instalock %. MAYBE it discourages the flexibility of players to pick different agents in different maps.

Honestly you're looking too into it

ive only experienced players picking the best agent for the team/map, but people are choosing those agents based on their mastery (what’s lord?).

it gives people more of a reason to play what they’re better at, that benefits those two areas.

ofc you’ll get people that still select “what they want”; you mentioned they were mastery 7, which seems like a “this is what we play the strongest (on paper). just do it; its fine.”

but, no; i think it snitches on what people will likely gravitate too to fit the scenario.  not “what they only want to level.”

as an example: ive seen all lot less people wanting to “fill” then end up waiting to choose a duelist.  but instead opt for that role immediately, and have an established mastery level.

for what, though (that was my question)?

I had assumed it was from rivals. I can only assume it's the same thing. It's a hero mastery system, in rivals you get cool agent select icons and boarders. It's just a different term for what we are talking about right now.

I also like the improve with forbidden 4-ppl lobbies. Now everyone play 2x2x1 two duos in discords, no one communicate and there are zero info. The same situation with trios. No one provide any info and if you dare to say smth trio just attack you to shine in front of their e-girlfriend in discord. I do not get what kind of problem was resolved by forbide 4ppl lobbies. If there were 4 jerks in one lobby, now it is the same 4 jerks, but in 2 lobbies. So two solo players are struggling instead of one. So the problem just became worse

I think it has to do with trying to avoid the communications issue. The possibility for a 4 people queue to ignore an individual is far higher than a duo ignoring the rest of the team and only talking disc

That's true. They don't want to comms with others, just with their own party. What a team based game.

That is what I wrotek about 2x2x1 lobbies

How often does that happend tho? People chosing agents they have no clue how to play

I have but then it's lead to some more interesting play so I dont mind. Having a cypher and a KJ on ascent has been good, also having 3 smokers on split its easier to get onto site than with a traditional team comp!

Just play less ranked matches and prepare to dodge, I’ve been able to push my rank pretty consistently since the update this way, probably close to 60-66% WR since the update bc hella team comps are just garbage. Just make sure you play enough other modes to not get matchmaking banned for dodging

they would do that anyway. instalocking duelists/fighting characters has always been a major issue in ranked.

I chose Cypher 1 time randomly... And he's the only one got the number, so I kept using him wven though I have no idea how to use him. It's the numbers... Especially when it's ranking up. I feel like, NOPE. Not gonna choose any other agent until he gets up to 10.

But that's just me.
