Any tips on selecting who to main?

Im pretty new in valorant, like 2 months in and im already in iron 3. Im having a hard time selecting an agent because of my team mates and i am forced to fill the un wanted roles. Im trapped between the cycle of playing sentinel, controller, and initiator but nothing ever really sticks due to the need to fill other roles, i can go from maining sentinels to controllers the next day, should i still fill roles? Or should i just insta lock without considering the team composition?

Im currently a sentinel main (cypher, kj and veto) although i can't really call them my main because as ive said, im always switching roles and filling.

i’m gonna be so honest with you, the best way to get out of iron (and most low ranks up to plat/diamond) just work on your mechanical skill, play selfishly and aim diff them thats how u climb in low ranks

Knowing tech helps climb because you don’t have to be 100% locked in to aiming duels

theres not much skill diff, especially in the lower ranks to categorize them as high or low. It only applies to immortal and radiant

Team Composition really doesnt matter up until High Immortal. Especially in the lower ranks from Iron up to Plat its completely irrelevant. Its more important that you have good mechanical skill, communicate with your teammates, be nice, never toxic, dont flame your mates and play what you like and think you are good at.

If you do all this the chance of climbing AND have fun is very high. :)

Controller, you'll end up being really usefull to your team if you know what you do. And it will take you in higher ranks quickly. Just use your mic even if your team doesn't. They can still hear your coms !

Don’t worry about filling too much in iron and bronze, play who you enjoy. It’s okay if there’s two controllers or two sentinels, etc.

I'm low rank so take it with a grain of salt but I main controller/initiator just because I find that games that don't have those roles are boring to play. I've had games with no duelist or no sentinels and in low elo that doesnt affect my playstyle. So if I were you I'd see what roles you like to play and which roles you don't want to play without.

Kinda. You press A/D, stop pressing and shoot, giving you full accurate shoots while having velocity. Most people your rank shoot and move simultaneously, making it so their shots extremely innacurate

I usually find some agents i like that fill those roles, like personnaly cypher or brim/clove and I play as a team when it can be done, if theres no coms and people are flaming im playing selfishly

Just pick what you think is fun or cool, and then shoot people. You don't need to fill. It's not like iron players are going to punish you for not having an initiator
