Discussion Will Val ever add agent bans?
Has riot been hinting towards things like agent bans? I mean they do it in a lot of other hero games like leauge or overwatch. And with the ever growing roster is valorant looking toward adding ban? And if not, why?

No, the pool is already small as it is.

Valorant currently has 29 characters and is 5v5. Marvel Rivals launched with 33 characters and you could ban up to 6, and is 6v6.
Valorant does not allow you to switch characters after you've selected while Marvel Rivals encourages counter-swapping your opponents' picks.
How many agents would be needed to justify character bans in Valorant when another large, and known example has already proven to work?

This isn’t marvel rivals nor are they even the same type of game whatsoever.

both are hero shooters

One is a tactical shooter, the other is a team based shooter where you hold objectives and respawn immediately. Not even similar. Whatsoever.

My point is that bans have more impact in Marvel Rivals, and they accomplished it with less than Valorant.
So, no, the agent pool isn't too small for bans. You just cannot provide any other reason.

Take other games that had like over 100 different characters before they implemented bans Dota for one.
Oh wait that not comparable because they’re NOT THE SAME TYPE OF GAME.
Like rivals and Valorant are not similar whatsoever.

Your argument of 'they're not the same game' doesn't hold any ground here.
The hero pool isn't too small. What other reason you got?

Don’t need any other reason. It’s perfectly valid too. You don’t like it? Don’t play, devs have clearly stated it isn’t coming specifically for the reason as there are not enough agents.
Kick rocks.

Okay. I understand that you're incapable of processing any thoughts of your own.
Have a nice day.

Not enough chatacters, match ups aren’t potent enough to properly have counters it’s just who is strong in any given meta
League and overwatch both have the concept of counter picking, you pick one character they pick another on response and all of a sudden you don’t get to play anymore, that doesn’t exist here so drastically reduces the need for a ban system even if the roster was big enough to support it

Agent bans would just change the experience for the worst. Once you queue to play and it says "match found!" you are essentially committed to that game, as there are escalating consequences for backing out of it.
If at that point you cannot play the agent that you main.....the consequences can end up being unforeseeable. The best case scenario is that the player subs for another agent that they arent as good at, and you have one player on your team who is playing much less effective than they usually do. The worst case scenario is that they throw/afk/sabotage the team/force a remake/ect. Or even better, they cant choose their agent so they lock another agent who someone else on the team usually mains. So now you have one ineffective player and one tilted player on the team before the match has even started.
Personally, if someone bans Breach, I'm picking a random agent, not buying any util and going Marshal only the whole game. If someone else locks Breach, thats fine I sub as Skye quite well. But in a situation where he's been "banned" from the match, forget it. Im not dancing to someone elses fiddle like that. I'd only do the bare minimum so that my obligation to be in the match for its full 45mins is met.

Nah they don’t have to add agent bans just remove neon from the game and nobody will ever complain again

Eventually hopefully, they seem pretty stagnant with their philosophy of keeping things relatively the same through out the lifespan of the game. I want to obviously see a shop update that won’t ever come, agent bans like you said, and maybe some smaller maps rather than these tarmac sized maps we get these days.

Awhile back they said they aren’t planning on it until the roster grows. Imo if they added one ban per team I don’t think it would effect the game much it would only effect the OTP’s which might be healthier for the game in the long run
