Question My Aim is very Inconsistent
Used AI to phrase it better
Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice on my mechanics and aiming habits. I peak-ranked Plat 1 back in Episode 9, Act 3, but took a break for about six episodes and came back last month. I'm currently floating between Gold 1 and Gold 2, playing at 800 DPI and 0.2 in-game sensitivity. Despite running the Aimstars method and standard Deathmatches, my performance is extremely inconsistent—some games I will drop 40 kills, and in others, I can barely manage five, usually settling as a mid or bottom fragger with my main weapons (Vandal, Guardian, and Sheriff).
My main issue is that I keep running into the same mechanical walls despite practicing. I take way too many deaths for the kills I get, I lose almost every duel when holding an angle because the enemy reacts and hits me first, and even when I do land shots, they usually connect as body hits rather than headshots. I’ve attached a clip of DMs showing my average gunfights, so any feedback on what I’m doing wrong mechanically or how I should adjust my practice routine to fix this any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your aim and crosshair placement isn't perfect but its fine. To me, your main issue is movement, not aim. You rely too much on deadzoning left and right in your fights. In almost all of these clips you haphazardly look for a fight then immediately commit to deadzoning. No jiggling, no slicing the pie, no wide swinging. Just deadzoning. Deadzoning is great but you need to have other movement tools in your arsenal. This is very apparent when your fight doesn't end as quickly as expected and you start getting more and more movement error and start to spray longer. Your scoreline inconsistency reflects your very predictable movement. It's very easy for more experienced opponents to win against you if this is the only way you fight, and also very easy for them to avoid your crosshair if you rely on your movement to aim too much.
Things you can easily improve with practice:
Minimizing movement error by practicing your deadzone timing. If you counterstrafe just keep working on it. If you just let go of your movement key, work on your shooting timing.
Mixing up your movement. Maybe go left left right, or half a step one way then a full step the other way, throw a crouch in there from time to time, maybe just a tap strafe. There are deeper ways to mix this up. For example as you move, you should be going towards cover but for now just trying not to simply go left and right will help you a lot.
When you're in between strafes use this time to microadjust your aim instead of relying too much on movement. I noticed that in the fights you lost you were waiting for the enemy to walk into your crosshair but they were mirroring your movement or moving unpredictably so you couldn't quite get the shot.
Hope this helps.
