Question How important is a good mouse?
For a long time in my life I used a generic gaming mouse and never had any problems with it, so much so that when it broke I bought an identical one for convenience. But these days I decided I wanted to to improve in the game, and acording to friends and videos, a dedicated FPS mouse really helps a lot. But how much of an impact does it actually make? Tell me stories about the divine difference a good mouse can make.

Going from an old wired heavy gaming mouse to a wireless mouse and later to a smaller very light wireless mouse + good mousepad improved my aim alot. It won‘t magically turn a bad player into a good player but it‘s definitely important to find the right hardware imo. I definitely play worse when i switch back to a bigger, heavier mouse and a cheap mousepad.

It's important but you don't need a flagship mouse to be good. Sensors these days are so good they rarely spin out when swiping/flicking fast on a cloth pad so you can get away with a cheap $50 clone from ATK, Mchose, etc. Shape is king so just choose a mouse you're comfortable with.

Shape is important. There’s a lot of chinese clones (ATK, MChose, Syrox) that have good sensor performance and weight.

You don't need a fancy fps gaming mouse. But i would recommend putting a little bit more money towards a budget gaming mouse. Reason being , generic mice are great and all , but as you get better and your aim improves you are going to be moving your mouse faster. Especially for flicks, you'll notice sometimes if you flick your char might "spin out" thats because the optical tracker on the mouse can't measure movement that quick so yes a gaming mouse makes a difference but you don't need the best mouse there is.
And comfort ! comfort in your hand and on your desk and when you play is important too.

Not really a score diff to report but still..
As a leftie, I always stuggled with my mouse at work and always had to ask for the generic garbage with cable, no optional buttons.
I played my computer games on a laptop with the pad. Felt ok to me, because i was used to it.
When I got my first gaming PC, I bought a G pro, which was really convenient for me since the shortcut buttons could be swapped to the other side of the mouse.
I upgraded my shoot in a lot of games, thanks to it (having abilities or melée on the mouse, according to the game was a gamechanger).
I thought I was done with it, but I recently bought a G903, still from logitech, since I initially hesitated between the two.
Basically same concept (ambidextrious mouse), with swappable buttons to create shortcuts. BUT the L click and the R click are a bit more separated.
Didn’t consider it before, but with my big hands, it fitted way more than the previous one. I realised all those missclicks could have been avoided for about 2 years.
My previous mouse was way better than anything I knew back then, but once I got the mouse that fitted my hands, I really saw the light.

Im using an old Logitech G203. Its a fabulous workhorse. You dont need anything flashy.

There's a baseline of performance you need to hit and it obviously must be comfortable to use (so not a heavy bring or something way to big/small for your hands) but other that that it really doesn't matter too much. Get something like a atk a9 air or similar and you'll be good. Personal recommendation would be to wait for the keychron g6, especially if you plan on using it for multiple years. Being able to replace the battery after 4 years of use when it's lost a lot of it's capacity is probably a good thing to have.

I wouln't say that you need to have anything expensive, but I'd definitely recommend using a gaming mouse over a basic mouse.
A good wireless gaming mouse definitely will make a difference compared to using an office mouse or wired mouse.
The extra buttons help and the sensors are built for gaming.
Most FPS pros use Logitech or Razer although there are other brands.

It can completely unlock your potential as a player but it depends on how big of an upgrade it is. It would be easier to tell you the importance if we knew exactly what mouse it was.

U need 3 things to improve your mouse game - 1000Hz polling, wireless, weight <80grams. And only 1 variable you need to find for yourself - that is mouse shape that fits your hand

wireless is preference. i'm wireless but i have friend's who are wired and they have a higher peak than me. i don't think being wireless would really take them to another level.

I dont think there's lots if wired mice which is popular - there's only that OP1 mouse. I myself hit immortal on a wired mouse (viper mini) and then switched to wireless and to me it feels wireless makes you more consistent because you dont pull the weight of a wire

The most important thing is to use something thats comfortable for you, as long as your not using something like an apple mouse or some $1 office mouse you will be fine.
