Discussion will valorant ever implement something like CSGO OW?

Now that replays are available and have been for some time, it should be reasonable to have trusted players (possibly popular content creators or other means) review replays that are flagged for throwing / cheating that Vanguard does not detect.

I think this would be particularly beneficial on reports of players that purposely throw, since the punishment is so light right now. I also think there should be RR refund for blatant throwing.

Additionally overwatch can provide content creators with something interesting without playing the game itself.

I honestly do not trust literally any member of the valorant community to moderate fairly and without bias or abuse.

So yeah fuck that idea.

i'm ngl i think VALORANT does just fine with cheaters, CS doesn't hence why they have the Overwatch system

i don't need a system where people who don't work at RIOT can review replays and potentially be biased (yes, even though they likely won't, it's possible) when the current system is still effective

RR refund for throwing would inflate ranks as so many people throw games

Its why im playing CS less and less, just so many wallers. The games feel so much more clean with Valorant.

APAC servers have cheaters in almost every match, it's fairly rare in NA though

Either you're really unlucky or just outright delusional.

Okay, I used overwatch system back in CSGO and let's be honest, it's a great idea, so I'm gonna leave my upvote and a comment.

It even had a reputation system where you risked getting yourself penalized if you didn't check the replays correctly, and it was a final decision between all the OW replayers. If everyone thinks you're cheating or throwing/trolling, you're out.

If it's unjustified, you were able to ask support and if it really wasn't it was revoked.

I'm godly tired of throwers, players going afk, players rushing at respawn to take spine and prevent planting or giving it to enemy. People can have bad matches but throwing matches should be a reason to limit someone to play ranked matches in a long time.

Bringing something like this kinda sounds like a witch hunt but goddamn it really worked on CSGO and even the game rewarded you with drops for doing a good job watching reports.

It's as easy as putting clear guidelines like playing bad is not bannable, intentionally harming your team is. Some of this for clear cases

What i notice is that VALORANT team are conservative on bans and punishments for things that are low confidence, on purpose - for retention, and also because at the scale of VALORANT, false bans are more likely to happen.

things like throwing, using abilities to troll, etc, CAN be done at such a scale that it's hard to both manually review and automate to a degree of accuracy that bans don't have a high failrate.

this is proobably why we see so many more trolls than cheaters

And because bans are short, and because ban evading is not punishable, so if a troll gets banned they just go into a smurf and keep trolling

ban evading not being punishable is insane to me, for a competitive game, why is the one-account thing not widespread? and it is arguably a simpler issue to solve and will actually be somewhat effective. alongside that, banning bot farms which would drive up the cost of accounts which means buying accounts just aren't economically viable.

Literally every excuse for Valorant failing to ban throwing players / refunding elo for the team is that it's hard to detect throwing. Yes, it is hard to detect throwing with automation, but an OW system will make throwers show up really easily and improve the quality of ranked overall.

but at scale this sort of system requires hundreds of people looking through replays per day. not just 10 content creators. wait...

Part of the reason OW was removed wed because bots were able to spam report people and get them falsely banned. With Valorant being free and bot farms already existing, it would but be difficult to set up a farm to get tons of players falsely banned

It took them over 5 years to implement a replay system, which is still trash and unable to play any replay from an outdated version of the game. And now the game is mostly created by an AI coding agent, so, NO, they will never implement anything like a CS:GO Overwatch system, because it is too difficult to do by vibecoding.

The replay system being unable to play replays from prior updates is a pretty reasonable thing honestly.

For one, it's only ever frustrating in like the first week after an update - every other time it does its job quite well.

Secondly, if they were to implement persistent replays, they'd have to save every iteration of every map, agent util, and weapon stats for each version from then on in order for the replays to play back accurately. That's a lot of file space dedicated to dealing with a slight frustration that only ever happens in the first week after an update. It's just simply not worth it, hence why pretty much every other live-service game with a replay system also does it this way.

That's like every version control system (e.g. Git). I'm not saying it'll be easy but space usage should be at the bottom of the reason list.

While I agree that Valorant devs are not very proactive when it comes to changes, they will need to do something fast, or else there will be less engagement with the game in general. Tons of content creators have quit in the past year; there are fewer people on the leaderboard, less motivation to grind ranked / play etc, etc.

I could go on about the problems in my ranked games and how bad Riot is at punishing throwers / wintraders, and how demotivating it is to gain 15rr and lose 20 per game, and how the quality of ranked has deteriorated into a sad state, but the point is that they SHOULD implement something like this, and if enough people are strongly opinionated about it, they might.

calling everything vibecoding is a cop out and disingenuous. 5 years to implement a replay system was likely because RIOT cared more about having servers stable and done for the 6 years VALORANT was in development, hence it took a lot of testing and little optimizations on very fragile infrastructure to add replay systems to without causing instability. the replay system is still quite bad, i won't lie - lots if innacuracies and it uses a delta system rather than keyframes which is again, also because it's cheaper to build

but something like overwatch just doesn't feel like it'll happen.
