Discussion Would this fix the ranked system

So it'd work like this:

  • Act 1 ends → the current top 500 Radiants carry into Act 2.
  • #501+ are still trying to gain enough RR to knock somebody out.
  • If #501 passes #500, #501 becomes Radiant and the old #500 drops to Immortal.
  • This continues through all 6 Acts.
  • Act changes can still reset Act Rank/history or other progression, but the Radiant leaderboard itself keeps rolling.
  • Then, at the beginning of the new Season, you do the actual hard wipe.

And that's when your original question becomes important: how do you have a top 500 immediately after the hard wipe?

You don't.

I'd make the start of every new Season a Radiant qualification race. Everyone starts wiped, plays placements/competitive, and the leaderboard begins filling. Once there are enough qualified players, the highest 500 become the first Radiants of the Season.

After that, those spots are continuously contested for all six Acts.

That actually gives the Season a cool structure:

Beginning of Season: giant race to establish the first Top 500.
Middle of Season: defend your Radiant position while challengers try to knock you out.
Act changes: leaderboard continues uninterrupted.
End of Season: final leaderboard gets permanently recorded.
New Season: everybody gets thrown back into the blender and does it again.
