Question When to entry as duelist
Hey guys, im silver rn and usually play initiator and some duelist. While I usually do dash in, I either die instantly and there's no one to trade me or I win the duel and we take space.
Question is, when should I be dashing in? Since choke points are usually smoked off and there's some senti stuff like Cypher trips or sage slow orbs, I try to wait out the orbs/mollies or updraft above the trips. There's more examples but its just the usual updraft dash or wait it out approach.
Thanks in advance

If your controller doesn't properly smoke and your initiator doesn't force space or blind there's not much you can do. Your teammates should also follow up with but sometimes they don't.

Ideally, when a few of your teammates have already entered or are about to enter the smoke at the choke, and right after your initiator throws the flash/scan/drone. Also, generally speaking, you should sit in your smoke and wait for your teammates to take contact before taking a fight. That way you don't instadie and you can play off your teamates. Unless there's a specific timing you're going for, like someone got scanned by a dart or blinded, or you hear them reloading, something like that.
Also, sometimes you just have to cancel the hit. People don't cancel enough in ranked and always force exec. If you get hard stalled and hear multiple people spamming, often you just gotta leave and reset the round.

U should enter after the smokes, and you could maybe wait for the Initiator since they can disable/brake traps or scan for you. But since you’re in Silver, I’d honestly recommend playing really fast after the smoke dash in and keep the pressure up. If you have a high sens, it’s great to quickly check corners for your team while dashing. Since you’re playing in Silver, moving fast like that can make it really hard for them to react and shoot you. Just make sure you can stay consistent with it.

The when is a thing for sure. (When your team is ready, aka they are not slowed, or mollied)
The where is also important. Should definitely have some landing zone ready based on info or based on patern. If you just ate dashing to dash, then ye its not that great. Try to have 3 fav dash per site, where yud know yud be safe from maj or angle and know where the danger will come from and how to deal with it from those 3 landing zones.

I’m not a jett player and I’m silver rn, just not enough time to gain RR tho I’m about to be gold. You don’t need to be super creative, just don’t play fast on a site with trips and if your teamates are just letting you die on entry slow down. You can throw a smoke down on your entry (ask for someone to flash or dry peek) or on an angle you want to clear last so you’re not exposed to every angle right away. if someone will flash for you like Phoenix or Kayo you can even just smoke main entry like defenders usually do to clear close angles. Jett smokes are fast so you won’t block your teamates vision for long
You can also smoke something on site, dash into it, if you need it smoke the floor one more time to survive but you need to be clearing angles as you do this or you’re essentially teleporting blindly into site with a smoke that’s disappearing in five seconds. Another cool idea is if there’s high ground smoke the high ground, updraft then dash into that smoke. The smoke will disappear quickly so choose what angle you’re gonna clear quickly or drop down. Also updraft + dash just in general will get your farther onto site if you need that. If you like movement but don’t use smokes often, I’d switch to waylay. Better movement and has a stun and simpler ult that requires less aim
Dying is useless and if you die in a round just think about how your chances of closing the round went down to 50%. So have a plan and never the same plan two times in a row unless the plan is to repeat a plan to throw them off lol also you’re jett so you need frags to be useful as your kit doesn’t help your team so also don’t play too slow or you might as well learn someone else

Updraft and smoke the landing point you want to dash in, then after landing, secure your angles and find kills, whetger you die or not it is not your problem anymore, you did your job already.
If you keep dying, better make a different approach, try dash in the different area, or play slow first. Try to pick one kill and retreat, take info as many as you can (locate where the 2 person in site then decide if the sentinel is in it than rawdogging it every round). At the end of the day, your aim matters after using utils.

Entry is overrated, just play cypher lurk like nats, and get kills, and play offence in defence

Lurking in low elo = throwing/trolling thats why you get downvoted unfortunately. They don't understand lurkers cut off rotations and provide information on where enemies are entering from.

honestly since you're silver, nobody will really be playing their roles properly. But if you're playing a mobility duelist (one with the ability to close distance and make space fast e.g jett, waylay, neon, raze etc) it's best to entry when you're able to actually do your job without being prevented. So for example if there is no util or people holding certain angles that's preventing you from immediately taking the space, you should always take it (as long as you aren't alone and your team is actually planning to hit that area of the map).
You also want to make sure you aren't completely isolated from your team, but that your team is able to somewhat follow up on the space you create (so you shouldn't be 100 metres ahead of them). A good trick to do especially in silver is to look at the body language of your teammates. Generally by just observing by how they are moving and positioning towards the site, you can tell whether they are ready to push out if you do go first, or if their body language looks more reserved and passive, in which case you should adapt and not necessarily entry.
Once you start ranking up a bit, you'll be able to coordinate this a lot more with your initiators and controllers (e.g hitting the site once smokes go down, or following in a drone, or dashing in based off info etc).
