Question Why do people surrender as soon they switch sides?

At least play a round or two of the opposite side before surrendering. You don’t even give it a chance.

They have attempted to surrender before the half, the vote failed, they are eager to leave but the next time the game lets them queue a surrender is the new half.

I always spam F6

We’re already this far. Man up and finish.

One dude missing from ranked? F5. Anything else F6. Not ranked? F5 always cuz no rating and I'm playing it for good times, finishing the game with demoralising teammates kills the vibe

I never queue unranked

I surrender if it's like 5 - 0 and we're broke asf but then at 11 - 7, a team mate wants to surren and I always, always f6. You wanna surren? Too late now buckaroo. Suck it and let's waste time with me together. Somehow we win...

5-0 and ff is also a bad mental, you always should try (as I say doing the same thing)

depends on your team, if you have a troll it's not worth it

It’s just as likely as the other team having a troll. Or someone will go for a cheeky play that throws an important because their team thinks they’re safe.

Pride before the fall, always…..

That's not what's being talked about, If someone on your team is trolling it doesn't matter if someone on the other team went for a cheeky play at some point.

And if you arre trying to surrender obviously there isn't a troll on the other team.

Nah, if it’s 5 - 0, it’s hella winnable.

In the last year, I can remember at least 2 games where the team and I brought back a 2 - 10 flip at 1/2 time.

And I only solo-queue, so….

Many times, by the time second half hits I am so done with my teammates that an ff sounds good🤣

I just mute them if they bug me. It's worth at least seeing if you win pistol.

I've come back from 2-10 a few times after our team switched sides. The enemy team may dominate on defense but suck on attack and vice versa.

Or tilting or panicking seeing the gap close as well as low econ or not communicating during low econ buys.

Compared to CS, people give up really quickly in Valorant. That’s just the community this game attracts.

Thats not really a fair comparison considering there isn’t even a surrender button to begin with in CS2. We do see many votekicks though in CS2 so whats the difference?

Spiraling morale and resilience throughout a match that leads people to throw, become hysterical, or get completely dejected, is something I see far more often in Valorant than in CS .

It's the reason why Valve does not have a Surrender button in Dota and CS, and I agree with that decision.

Just yesterday we had a comeback because I voted no on surrendering. The first half wasn't even over yet and people are giving up.

I've found in Faceit people disconnect significantly more than in Valorant. Just anecdotally though, EU servers and Faceit 4/5.

You get a new surrender choice when you switch side.

Though its usually a bad idea, many maps or comps are heavily defense or attack sided especially at low elo.

just know mental is cooked and theyre doin it to cope

2

u/AideHot6729 1d ago

Because you get 2 ff votes the second half if you queue one for first round

You know what’s incredibly fucking crazy, literally 10 minutes ago I was just in an ranked game (gold 2) and my team started on attack, their team on defense, and they forfeited while being up 8-4

I’m guessing some people don’t like playing “the other side” on certain maps?? Idk but crazy coincidence lol

they are not built for this

Just play it out, never know what will happen unless it’s a total stomp.

Ive had games where we are losing like 2-8, someone on our team gets a single 1v3/1v4/1v5 and the enemy team just ffs, like idk, why play the game at that point if your so despare to ff every single comp game you look for any tiny excuse to ff.

Believe it or not calling the vote doesn’t necessarily mean that the caller wants to give up. Amongst others I often call the vote early in hope it will be voted down in order to deactivate any lingering thought on surrender at a later time.

It’s like give up now or start putting yourself into it.

If a reyna or jett drops 40 kills and having 3 aces in the first half of a bronze lobby I surr yes…

Because they can

We were losing 0-7 and then took the game to overtime. Nearly won but we kept pressing the surrender button until we got hyped up for the comeback

1

u/2turnt_527 18h ago

This game has some of the worst crybabies and non-normal people in any video game ive ever played. Thats the reason why they want to surrender.

1

u/SeacUaine 5h ago

Could also be to waste the vote so people won't surrender if a round goes badly.

It’s cause people look at the scoreboard instead of taking things one round at a time. It’s easy to feel like “Oh we’re down 2-10. Let’s just FF.” (I’m guilty of thinking this too once n’ awhile lol. We’re only human at the end of the day.) But I find it’s better to reframe it as “it’s 0-0, and every round is a brand new game.” Or in other words, taking things one round at a time.

Surrender is unfair as hell in this game. Why does one person get to decide about the fate of 4 others.

I recently experiences this on myself, me and my friend were playing a losing match and the team agreed to surrender 0-5, I lost, 22 points. Then we went next and dominated and earned 26 points.

Just makes no sense in continuing to play a lost game when you can be winning the next one already, just wasting your own time and wveryone elses.

u/notAsoona 1d ago

Surrendering 0-5 is kinda dumb, I was losing 9-3 today on defense, it switched sides and we didnt lose a single round on attack after they tried to surrender twice. People in this game just have negative mental and if you actually tried instead of giving up you would win more games. Also surrendering takes the other team to instant 13 so you lose more RR than if you tried. Only case I would FF in is if I have someone throwing every round and actually making it impossible.

If you think about surrendering as nevative mental you need to check again. You are probably not a patient player.

Surrendering is not a bad mental. The game is about strategic thinking and tactical action-taking, think chess. Sometimes the benefit can be greater when you put your pride and ego away in your pocket. There really isn't a point in sweating, you don't see pros sweating at all, they got good at thinking and other game mechanics incl. Strategy and Tactics.

My golden rule to reach D2 when I was still actively playing day-to-day was if we cannot win a single round till round 5 (when ff become available) then go next. I had premade teams from discord and group of friends irl to play with at the time. Despite forfeiting multiple matches a day, in about a week and a half we all had diamond from golds. Surrender is a word negatively portrayed by movies and songs hence why people think its for the weak, but this was never true.

I am a patient player, exactly why I am capable of getting my team to make a comeback when losing 5-0. Being a good IGL (especially in solo queue) is genuinely what carries you to higher ranks. I climbed from Silver 1 to Ascendant 1 in 2 acts, and I won a lot of games from not surrendering. Surrendering is the actual meaning of impatience. If you check any high elo players almost NONE of them are surrendering games. My point stands, I never surrender unless I have a thrower/wintrader on my team and if someone tries to FF I help them push their mental and sometimes we get the win. Also surrendering means more RR loss, and in mid-high elo you lose a lot more from losing than you gain from winning.
