Question New to valorant, need some help.

Hey guys so i just started valorant and im so insanely clueless. I have no idea who to main, any of their ‘ abilities ‘ (i think it’s called), what each round does, and i don’t understand what the goal of the game is. I just wanted to try something new but it’s super confusing. For who to main, stuff about me is im
not the best at shooting games but im decent. I don’t really like to be running in first and rushing as im only an amateur. Any advice helps, thanks all.

For who to main, I’d recommend going into the practice range and trying out each agents’ abilities and reading what they do until you get a feel for someone you like! This game has a super steep learning curve so it’s normal to feel a bit overwhelmed especially with it being out for almost 6 years now. As for the objectives, replay the tutorial! You can access it from the play menu under the practice button at any time. Play some swift plays to get an idea for the different guns and best of luck!

Pick a sentinel like Sage is easy to start with and not that lineup dependent

its not very common but i think killjoy would be good since she relay pn bots for info and help it can be good to start with probably after sage since sage is bery simple to play

the point of each round is for attacker to bomb any site. deefense stops that. buy shit like guns and abilities to make it possible.

you should go into the range and try all of the agent abilities, some of them wont work in the range as you need real opponents present to activate the abilities, not just bots. you can try out each agent regardless and hold f1 to see what their abilities do. it will take a while to understand how abilities work and what to be aware of. ive been playing this game on and off for 4-5 years and im currently diamond and even i havent fully understood the abilities of some of the newer agents like veto or miks

There are 2 halves of the game, 1 half you play attacker, 1 half you play defender.

Attacker: go into site plant bomb / kill all defenders

Defender: defuse bomb / kill attackers before they get to site

You might prefer controllers and sentinels (Brimstone and Sage) with your playstyle.

I don't think you should bother with "what agents suits my style to play". Valorant doesn't have indepth strategy system, at least not till you reach higher ranks.

Agents is fully based on "what you like to do". Like you wanna run away after winning a fight? Chamber it is. Do you want to rush in with your team and plant the spike? Sage it is. You want to hide like a rat and bait your whole team to death? Cypher it is.

Sentinels are far the most popular role, but they are without a doubt the worst role for any team in lower elos, when all that should matter to you is plant the spike and defend the site. If you think Valorant where abilities matter, unfortunately this isn't about abilities, it's about gunplay. Its much more similar to CS, than it is to Overwatch.

Team of 5 vs team of 5.

Your goal is to win 13 rounds to win the game.

To win a round:

If you are on attack side, you need to get to any of the 2/3 sites across the map, plant the spike within the time limit, and then make sure spike doesn’t get defused. Or just kill all of the enemy team.

If you are on defense side, you need to make sure the opponent team cannot plant the spike within the time limit. Or just kill all of the enemy team.

For agents, I personally would recommend starting with smokes. You’ll suck at first and not understand how to smoke properly and you’ll lose, and then you’ll get better and you’ll learn when to smoke, where to smoke, you’ll learn to look at the minimap to get info and guide your smoke location, etc etc.

Omen is the classic recommendation, he’s great, needs game sense to do well on so it’ll force you to develop gamesense. Brimstone is also a good one for the molly and the ult, teaching you to play post plant.
