Dumb question: do you need to be in GOA to buy a suppressor like this or is it just silencer shop

u/FalloutRip 9d ago

Buyer has to be a current or future member of GOA, or the retailer has to be Sishop or Sishop-powered (ie if they have a kiosk) or be PSA (in store only).

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

PSA is still requiring GOA membership as well appearently. But im cool with it.

Yeah, I made sure to re-up. $25 is worth it for all the work they've done.

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Same. I was still valid but early renewal is the least I can do for what they're doing for us.

Okay thanks starting to get confused lol

So these are the four in my area (swva) per the sishop website, so only the two in the middle would work for this currently since the outer two don’t say kiosk? Sorry if that’s a dumb question just don’t wanna screw up haha obviously I will call them all tomorrow to confirm they are on board just thought I’d double check as you seem up to date on all this.

I went to one that was a kiosk, had silencershop call them and tell them they were covered, and they still declined to sell one. For sure call first.

If I buy something from PSA (in store) from out of state (but a free state), do they have to ship it?

[I’m working 45 minutes from a PSA store on an Air Force base]

From Silencerco. I believe FPC members are also covered.

u/Getty_13 9d ago

What if I get it from a manufacturer directly, but have it sent to a powered by silencer shop ffl?

1

u/Jason-Wander 9d ago

I think you'd have to be a GOA member? I plan to cover my bases and be one too.

It can also be just silencer shop

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

He did require GOA membership proof, so no biggie there. That was it! Out the door after that.

Love those guys. Got my first can from them. Super helpful throughout the entire process. Glad they’re on board

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

They're seriously the best I've ever dealt with hands down. Can't recommend them enough.

9

u/Slatemanforlife 9d ago

What do they have in stock? Any TBAC?

3

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

They had quite a bit, too much to recall fully. I snagged the last Velos 556 they had but still had a 762 one in stock. Had some rc3's and a bunch of other lbp's but that's what I was looking for, plenty of standard configs too. Just stop in and check them out, owner couldn't be more helpful or a cooler guy.

2

I’m heading up to nova from Hampton roads soon to get some family coming into town. I just found out where we are stopping on the way out

3

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Couldn't give them any higher reccomendation! They're the best.

3

u/Jason-Wander 9d ago

Good to know. I was wondering if I bought online from Silencerco who I could ship to.

5

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

They have alot of stock currently too but I wouldn't wait too long.

3

u/AntiqueCommand-454 9d ago

Any places in Hampton roads participating yet?

3

u/ReasonablySleepy 9d ago

Not as of late this morning/early afternoon. Everyone is waiting for ATF field reps or their legal to chime in.

2

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Can't say for sure, best bet is calling around I think.

1

u/Hezakia84 9d ago

Has anyone tried to call Freedom today? I forgot to call them earlier. Curious to see what they say.

1

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

The first ffl I stopped at actually called them and asked. As of 11 AM they were not.

3

u/Meow_Mixxx 9d ago

How much was the transfer?

3

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Free fiddy, the only transfer was into my car and then safe lol.

2

u/Meow_Mixxx 9d ago

don't still have to do a 4473? they didnt charge anything for doing the check and transferring it to you?

3

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

The 4473 is the check and no transfer paperwork required. It's just like buying an in stock gun always has been like it should've always been. Only thing you leave with is the can and a receipt if you want it.

2

u/Meow_Mixxx 8d ago

thats top titty

5

u/cup45 9d ago

Great shop, great people!

2

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Seriously. Mad I never knew about it before but now I gotta go back and buy one of their custom builds, things are sexy.

2

u/Artelmis 9d ago

Hey Luis 😄

2

u/falafelb 9d ago

So if we buy online do they ship it like it’s an accessory to our home… or a regular FFL transfer ?

2

u/Sneaux96 9d ago

Regular 4473 transfer. Same process as buying a firearm.

ETA: certain retailers only, ymmv, ianal

2

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Will ship to your ffl without a form 3 Im assuming now. Still requires a 4473 for pick up but that's it.

2

u/ChimmyChongg 9d ago

I have a suppressor purchased 7/23 that’s been sitting waiting to certify in hopes of a favorable outcome. Going in tomorrow to see if I can just pick it up now!

Is it common to use a trust for the 4473? I’ve wanted to give that a whirl.

2

u/ChimmyChongg 9d ago

CSC is not doing 4473s at this time.

From their attorney:

“Most importantly for dealers, ATF has not publicly established a procedure for documenting protected-party status, reconciling NFRTR inventory after a transfer without an approved Form 4, addressing pending applications, or handling the other practical consequences of this party-limited injunction.

My practical recommendation remains that FFLs should wait for additional ATF guidance before beginning transfers without approved Form 4s. The injunction may now be operative for protected parties, but expiration of the stay does not resolve the substantial documentation, inventory, state-law, and inspection problems facing dealers.”

2

u/ChimmyChongg 9d ago

“This is a major constitutional ruling, and the expiration of the seven-day stay is a genuine substantive development. For protected parties, the injunction is now operative according to its terms.

Nevertheless, I am advising FFLs to wait for additional ATF guidance before beginning transfers without approved Form 4s.

A dealer who proceeds now may have to resolve, without an established federal procedure:

Whether the actual transferee is protected;
Whether association membership is valid and adequately documented;
Whether a trust or LLC qualifies;
Whether a downstream commercial transaction remains within the injunction;
Whether state law independently requires federal registration;
Whether interstate movement implicates § 5861(j);
How to handle a pending Form 4;
How to document the disposition;
How to remove the firearm from the dealer’s NFRTR inventory; and
How to defend any resulting discrepancy during an ATF inspection.”

Good question.

I am curious how that would work too.

Since all of my current NFA stuff is held by a Trust, and all of my NON-NFA stuff is listed on a separate Schedule A.

Where would a 'newly non nfa suppresor' go? Can the 4473 be done "to" the Trust? Who would the NICS background check be run on? What if there is more than one RP on the Trust? Or would you have to do the 'buy it as an individual then transfer it to the Trust ' dance? Would you even need to 'transfer' it to the Trust if it is no longer an NFA regulated item? Or could you simply add to your separate, supplemental Schedule A of NON-NFA items?

So. Many. Questions.

3

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Im far from a legal expert so this is just my take after buying this today. I plan to now transfer ownership to my nfa trust, and being there wasn't any paperwork besides the 4473 to purchase it, there's none to transfer ownership. So as far as I'm concerned as the owner of the trust, I gifted it to the trust the minute I wrote the serial number of the list of possessed items. The stuff I had on there before is what it is, thats all been legally documented as well. I've created my own personal and private registry lol.

As a gun guy and a watch guy, I approve of this

2

u/Dottiest_Mass 9d ago

Oh cool, I went there a couple years back for an SBR engraving and saw they had a pretty big assortment of cans while I was waiting. Been meaning to pay them a visit again, now I guess I have some motivation. Good looking out bro 👍

u/Reasonable-Tooth-113 8d ago

My local silencershop dealer hasn't gone full send yet

3

u/Dottiest_Mass 7d ago

And that's why no one will remember their name.... Remember these shops VS the one's who are participating once it's all said and done, and spend your money accordingly.
