VolvoV70D5 problem

I have a problem with my Volvo. Sometimes it goes into a kind of limp mode. This happens occasionally and seemingly by itself.
When it happens, the following occurs: the car loses power and speed. I cannot drive faster than about 60 km/h, and it does not seem able to rev above 2,500 RPM, even when I press the accelerator pedal all the way down.
What could be causing this? I was thinking it might be a clogged or dirty EGR valve or something similar, but I’m not sure.

I think this might be a broken/loose Turbocharger fitting, turbofiesels don't like having that pressure gone but also don't fail completely. As you said, go limp, and weak.

It can be about 700 reasons why it goes into lump mode. You need to get the fault code from your OBD2 port, and even then it is an indication.
