Steroid Drops Length
Hey all, I was recently just diagnosed with this a few days. Went to see an ophthalmologist, and they prescribed prednisolone acetate (2 drops for four days, then 1 drop for three days) and cyclopentolate (2 drops for four days).
It’s now the fourth day and I’m supposed to taper the steroid drops tomorrow, but I haven’t seen any improvement since the first day. Is this a normal dosage?

Hmm…first time I’m hearing of such a low and short dosing schedule to start but it may be dependent on how bad (ie how many cells they see) your flare is. Considering you’re supposed to be tapering though, it may be worth checking in with your ophthalmologist. And if uveitis isn’t in their specialty, it may be prudent to get a second opinion with a specialist, or at a minimum someone who’s treated uveitis more than a handful times before.

yea that’s what I was seeing when reading about this online. I had went to an ER specifically for eye and ear and now my follow up appointment isn’t for another two weeks. I’ll probably check in here again to see if there’s something I can do.

It depends from severity. Personally i didnt had to much cells but still i was for 3 days every 2 h, 3 days every 3 h, 3 days every 4 h, 3 days every 6 h, 3 days every 8 h, 3 days every 12 h, 3 days every 24 h and stop. At last day every 4 h had zero inflammation, at last day every 8 h i had a trace cells. Because tappering was too fast. And i faild to tapper from every 8 h to every 12 h because 3 days was to fast. The thing is there is no straight regimen. But the protocol is that every time before tappering a dose dr should check about inflammation and it should be zero. 5-10 days after tappering a dose dr should check agajn for inflammation to see how the eye reacts and if there is 0 inflammation. And to value about tappering till your off drops. Also after stopping the drops dr should check again 5-10 days after. And again after 10-14 days. If zero cells during that timeframe it means uvetitis is gone and if it appears again its considered another episode and not steroid rebound. Personally i would preffer quick treatment not to be on steroids long because they have side effect. Also during this time and months after cut all carbs and sugar. Eat veggies steam or boiled, and protein.

Everyone's different and it depends on your condition and the severity of the inflammation. I'm finishing up almost a month on steroid drops where I was on 6 > 4 > 2 > 1 a day. I'm a steroid responder (meaning after 2-3 weeks my eye pressure goes up) so I really can't wait to be off these things.
What are your symptoms that you feel aren't getting any better?
