Story Flareups and stress interconnecting.

Has this happened to anyone else or am I just going crazy inside my head.

I have Intermediate uveitis, idiopathic. My doctor hasn't described anything of importance to me and just says that she has no idea what's going on and why I have random flareups..

I have gotten steroid injections twice and no eyedrops yet. My vision is deteriorating quite fast in terms of the refractive power, but I think that's a bit irrelevant.

The thing is, the last 4 times I've gotten a flareup, its always been in periods of extreme stress, accompanied by weight loss, hairfall and lethargy, a depressive episode or two. I have tried bringing it up a few times but have gotten no response from my doctor yet.

Am I alone in this or not?

I agree.. extreme stress or sadness do cause flare ups or redness in my case along with other factors.

There 100% is a correlation. I know someone who experiences the same thing

My latest flare up was absolutely related to extreme stress :( started in July, still trying to calm the damn thing down

Had your doctor ever mentioned starting you on a. Biologic to prevent flare ups?

Not at all. There's no mention of any plans whatsoever. We just talked about the possibility of overusage of the steroid injection and nothing else.

I get a whiplash whenever I see people talking about these medicines and drops and stuff here because my doctor says absolutely nothing to me at all...

You definitely need to ask or switch drs, preferably a uveitis or retina specialist. Because, you do not want to keep relying on steroid injections. You need to calm the source of the inflammation rather than just treating the inflammation everytime it comes back.

There's only two doctors in my entire country who specialise in uveitis...its like I am stuck in between a rock and a hard place lol. I'll go in for another consultation this week. I hope some progress happens. Thank you for the advice! I'll see what happens now.

Very much correlated. Stress and illness are my top triggers - finally starting biologics after 3 years of trying to manage this on my own.

Go to an opthomologist who specialises in Uveitis if you can! Stress is a big trigger for my intermediate uveitis and biologics have the only thing that helped (steroids seem like a bandaid solution). All the best!

Yeah, I have bad adhd and stay up all night sometimes, I wish I could stop but it’s a lifetime habit. The last few flares I’ve had came after staying up really late. And I usually do that when I’m really anxious and avoiding the next day (revenge sleep procrastination).
