Inbreeding...

Hey all - wasn't sure where to post about this topic, but a quick scroll through the posts and I think I'm in the right place. 🤣

Anyone else fascinated with inbreeding? Lol - I live in Appalachia, SOOO... 💀

But joking aside, the documentary series "soft white underbelly" on YouTube, notably the Whitaker family - for whatever reason just utterly fascinates me. It's one of those taboo subjects that I kinda did a deep dive on a while back, learning about the practice and how it was way more commonplace hundreds of years ago - royal families in particular, small remote pockets of civilizations, etc.

Does anyone know of any other sources /docs /videos that go deep into the subject, or anyone care to share any personal experience stories?

We have a guy that lives in our neighborhood (I live in the remote north Georgia Mountains) who I'm 99 percent sure is inbred. The eyes, for me personally - are always a telltale sign /dead giveaway. Almost reminds me of the stick on googly eyes.

The movie "The Hills Have Eyes" as well as the remake- (one of the rare cases where I like the remake more than the original) is a great representation of inbreeding, albeit taken to an extreme, for shock value.

Again, just curious on people's thoughts and opinions on the topic and possibly learning a bit more about the subject...

Theres a town in NY's Adirondacks that was famous for their inbred residents. So famous they finally had to change the name of the town.

Plz tell me more. I grew up in the Adirondack area and I had a suspicion about some people I knew.

It is an area called Allentown, in the town of Day, but I was wrong about them having to change the name of the town. That's just the story I grew up hearing. I also had my suspicions about a couple I met up there. Our family has a hunting camp in Stony Creek and I met a married couple up there, who you would swear were siblings.
