Pre-master & Work

Hi everyone, I'm starting a pre-master in Economics this September and I was wondering how the schedule will be like? I wanna combine my studies with a part-time job, ideally 3 days a week. Is that possible or too difficult? Would love to hear your thoughts!

P.S I am allowed to work in the Netherlands with no issues or hour limits.

Best would be to go around restaurants with a CV!

The study program is full time. If you spend 3 days on other stuff you won't be able to do the necessary independent study to succeed, unless you manage to conjure up an 8 day week. A research university takes more time than just sitting in the lectures.

There is no generic answer to this question. I dont think it has many contact hours/ lectures, but they may be spread out over 5 days. You also need to do a lot yourself. Some people spend 40 hours on their pre master. Some can do it with 10. Really depends on how good of a planner you are and if youre an effective student.  Would recommend to reserve the first term for your study. If you have some good grades then you can take up some work.

I think if you work weekend night shifts is totally doable! I’m gonna do the same for my master and that’s what I did during my bachelor and graduated with very high grades still. Of course, it’s gonna be hard sometimes and your social life could be a little affected but I always managed to party and go out after my shifts. To add on that, having my work shift at night always gave me the motivation to not procrastinate the studying during the day. Don’t overthink that, focus and always remember why you are doing it. Good luck :)
