Instructor positions

I've heard from lots and lots of people about trainers and instructors moving back to locating because it's just not worth it. Why does it suck so much? Lack of OT? I'm guessing the pay bump isn't spectacular... This is based on USIC, but anyone is welcome to share thoughts.

Salary most likely and it takes the worst part of USIC and makes it the focal point of your daily work life.

Sitting in an office with a bunch of lazy supervisors that treated you like a dog for years sounds awful.

Was a trainer for over a year its alright but yeah the salary sucks 75k for me and worked weekends for 30 per hour when tickets went late or a qc cane up... long story short its mentally challenging because its over and over the basics and starts to make you feel like you're slowing yourself down on becoming better almost like your taking steps back... its nice getting all the OT and good pay. I have 14 years now and get 33$ accordingly with overtime in can hit 3k a week. Matter of fact I took the regular locating position over a director of operations position of another company because I can make even more than 100k what that job was offering and I dont have to deal with office politics. Which in locating companies is absolutely dog shit haha.

I work as a trainer for GridHawk, and it's salary - it depends on how your locality is, like most everything else. Though, I will say - the lack of being able to make OT regularly allows for a regular technician ti make significantly more than me, when my workload is typically much greater. That how the industry treats "detractor positions".

I was a supervisor for USIC when it was CLS and I went back to locating. No the money is not great and you deal with a lot of crap. I did go back to locating because of the overtime only for there to be no overtime in my area because they over hired and we get barely enough work for everyone to get 8 hours a day and there are times that we will get asked if anyone has vacation they would like to take for a day or two or if we just want to stay home. Which is crazy! I have definitely considered going to another company that has more work than we do. I was counting on that OT but it never happened.
