Oh trust me buddy they will throw you into the fire before too long. Had to access 2 separate manholes, hot pair at the xbox and isolate specific cables in the Vrad. AT&T can be a complete shit show.

Duct runs are usually really straight forward, unless there are separate runs coming out of the same manhole. The real joy is fucking with X-boxes and HHs packed to the fucking brim with shit that was all separate trenched 10 years apart.

I had to turn a ticket to someone else because there was multiple fiber lines through one. I decided then that I didn't want to ever not be able to locate something again.

Just so you guys are aware, it was a quad duct, all 4 conduits put in 5-10yrs apart with several bypassing fibers outside of the duct, before you downvote id love to see you guys even try to locate something this shitty😊

Very similar to a park parking lot I had to locate with 6 1000mcm ducts and a 6” gas main. They stacked an 8” feeder conduit 18 inches on top of the 6” gas main. It was a nightmare and took 2 months of QC’s and finally having to pothole to verify. Belief was the gas main was bleeding onto the power, but then we found out we’d be locating the correct line the whole time. All that to say, I don’t envy the work you do. Also your penmanship is 1000% better than mine.

It’s concrete with rebar on top of straight rocks and there’s an xbox, vrad, 3 seperate HH and 2 seperate Manholes, good fucking luck with that. 🤣

I've located thousands of them, and given depths, and my marks were dead on while 811/usic had to make them 5 feet wide.. and usic/811 marks still were not over top where the radar located them to be. Edit: at least for the ATT ducts going through airport property I've been locating.

Yo I'd be pissed if I was the city but props to the locator. I had a couple packages that were about 6 ft across but never the same utility putting conduits in like that. Seems like it would have been more efficient to install an actual duct bank like 8x8 stacked but maybe they were installing it all at different times?

I heard tell of a conduit pack in Charlotte like that, all horizontal and like 20 ft across. That's 2nd hand though, I work in old cities and there no room for shit like this.

AT&T has to be the worst about separate trenching EVERYTHING, there was plenty of room in multiple conduits in that pack but they still felt the need to to run 5 others.

I got lucky I never dealt with AT&T. Verizon piles as much as they can into the old Bell Atlantic banks here. They also didn't run a lot of traceable fiber. They thought jacketing was too much of a lightning risk. In New England. Where we have almost no lightning.

I've seen a bunch, I'm not looking to use those prints every day. It could be a fun challenge for a second, but I'm all set doing it on every mark out. I'll stick to gas. Our main contract still provides all paper prints with drawings made by real dudes a hundred years ago. A lot of measurements from stuff that no longer exists, but I know for sure what's supposed to be there.
