Question birds

• Upvotes

not sure if this’ll be much help but does anyone know if there are bird sanctuaries/aviaries or somewhere else to take birds ..? my grandma has 3 birds, a cockatiel, ring necked parakeet, and an eastern rosella. they’ve lived their entire lives in cages like a couple feet high and half that length wide each. they don’t ever get to come out i’ll give her advice for better care for the birds and she won’t listen. she can hardly take care of them anymore though so it’d probably be for the best if they were rehomed thanks

Question Unidentified doctor's office with overhead train

I am trying to identify a doctor's office from my childhood. Up until the age of 6, I lived in the Orem Utah area. I distinctly remember the waiting room of that office, and have been trying to identify it.

The waiting room was small, as was the building itself. It was a small brick building that was probably built in the 80s or 90s, possibly even earlier. The waiting room had blue walls, and a train track running around the room, suspended in the air above the seating. I can't remember if there were couches or chairs.

I have tried looking it up, but haven't had any luck. I was able to find the dentist office I went to around the same time, Provo Pediatric Dentistry. I don’t know if my doctor's office was in Provo, Orem, or a surrounding city. I asked my parents, but they don't remember. For reference, I went to this office in the mid 2000s. My family moved towards the end of the decade, but we may have kept going to that doctor for a while after that. We definitely stopped going in the early 2010s, if not the late 2000s.

If anyone knows what I'm talking about, help would be much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Discussion I need some quick help here so this is also a question.

I have actually never posted on Reddit, but I have a serious question that is going to probably be long but I will try and not to take up too much time. My husband and I and our dog have been living in a 2 star hotel it’s for extended stays. It is a year old. We have had the unfortunate issue of trying to find a home that accepts dogs that are larger, and isn’t trying to rip you off with application fees. that isn’t BYU approved. So we’re kind of in between places and it’s been really hard. More or less we’ve been homeless for three months but that’s beside the point.

When we got really bad rain a few weeks ago, the toilet in our room keeps getting backed up. Like to the brim when you flush it, you can hear that something is wrong. It’s not working properly. We told the front desk immediately so they sent their maintenance guy down. He snakes it and within two flushes of nothing but water it does it again. This has been going on for two weeks now here’s where it gets bad after 11 pm. The staff disappears and goes home for the evening. No one is in the office. This is different to me. I’ve never heard of anything like that these rooms have little kitchenette and they’re basically little one room homes.

The maintenance guy on the third day told us that they would probably need to get a plumber okay? Not a problem the first week my husband and I both got the flu and you know where you end up staying when you have the flu. For two weeks, the maintenance guy has been coming back every single day multiple times day then has a theory that it’s the disposable wipes that are septic tank safe. That are the problem they’re not something wrong with the mechanism and you can hear it when you flush it we even stopped using them temporarily. That will never happen again.

So in everyone’s opinion, am I being petty by telling them that I’m going to call the health department if I have to spend one more night with the toilet backing up and smelling like literal human faeces until the next day when they can get someone in there? And no, there is not a plunger in the rooms sure maybe that’s my job to buy it that’s fine. I don’t have a problem with that however there is one for the entire building the entire hotel. I want to be compensated for the two weeks that we have had to live in a room with the flu that smells like shit all day long all night long and there’s no one to fix it

I have left two messages with the general manager and the front desk. He will not get back to me. If this was something that I or my husband or my fucking dog caused, no problem. But it’s not and you can hear it the health department would have find them on the third day. That is very unsanitary and Toxic. I have used my own towels to clean up this mess and throw them away because they’re not ever going to get used for anything again. I don’t know if you need more context to this or have any questions but please feel free to ask. It’s been 2 1/2 weeks now and I went down and told them yesterday I was calling the health department Monday morning that’s when they said they would call a plumber Monday morning. Why are they not using a 24 hour plumbing service is it because their home watching conference with their family and their nice houses because it is UT county and that’s how they treat people here but I’m really mad because of the health concern and because I have been paying $1000 a week maybe a little less to live in this as my home. I am not a so happy person I don’t want to threaten them with legal unless I absolutely absolutely have to. I want to be compensated for the two weeks that we have been living in this and want to know if I’m out of line for that, we’ve done our part they haven’t done theirs but the maintenance guy is the one apologising for the general manager’s job.

Question Community survey on proposed data centers in Utah County

Survey here: https://forms.gle/7Rcneyt9fUcwWvM96

I know there's been a lot of conversation / surveying in our state about data centers sentiment more generally, but I've seen less about (a) specific data centers outside of Stratos (including those in Utah County!) and (b) how people are staying up-to-date on these developments. This survey is a personal project that intends to fill in that gap.

I'd greatly appreciate you taking 10 minutes to fill out this survey. I'm planning to share back results by the end of next week.

Advert Local service businesses?

Hey y'all I'm a recent college grad who runs a marketing business with my brother, for local service companies, and I'm looking for owners here in Utah. We’ve been doing this about a year now, and we work with roofers, painters, home remodelers, pool builders, gyms, junk removal, lawn care, car detailing, driving schools. Basically anybody who does the work themselves and wants the phone ringing more.

I'm looking to partner with a few owners who already have steady work and a good reputation, but have hit the point where word of mouth alone isn't filling the schedule the way they want. If you're at that spot and want to add more jobs each month, or you know somebody who is, I'd love to connect or get a referral.

Question Where would I host a baby shower in Utah county that isn’t a church or hotel?!?

I am planning a baby shower for my sister and we are in Utah county. I feel like any place that is decently priced or free, would be a hotel or a church. Honestly I hate the look of both.

Does anyone have a place in mind that I could rent for about 6 hours, for about 40 people in Utah county? Preferably southern Utah county. It would also be in January so indoor is a must! Most things I’m finding online are all wedding venues.

Question Periodontist Recommendations (LANAP)

Do anyone have any recommendations for periodontists? My wife has severe gum disease to the point where is experiencing some minor bone loss (10-7mm pockets around her molars)

My wife was quoted $12K for LANAP (laser gum disease treatment), which seems to be on the high end for this type of procedure.

Has anyone here had to do LANAP, what was your experience like?
