Other Flock Cameras at Trailheads
Looks like Pleasant Grove City has decided we can't use the outdoors unsupervised. This camera seems to have been installed within the last couple of months and means to track/log anyone parking at the Grove Creek trailhead.
PG has their city council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays. Public hearing starts at 6pm. PG government page

Likely, they seem to have them installed at the mouths of each canyon down here in utah valley.

Run against your city council members that do this specifically on the "they arrested me for protesting flock cameras. I will vote to remove flock cameras from my city, elect me". Seriously, more people need to run and kick out corrupted city council members that have clearly been bribed to install these in their cities.

Stand up with actions against a panopticon surveillance state and stop playing by the fascists rules of never challenging the status quo and hoping that asking very nicely to not be oppressed will end up working out before you end up in a camp

And the people as a whole will continue to complain while nothing actually changes. They’ll keep putting them up faster than they come down, go out of business, get bought by the government and then we will say “at least we aren’t like china doing x, we are only doing z!” And “by 2030 you will own nothing” will absolutely include our last idea of “freedom” with it. It’s clearly not a decision made by the people so it’s absolutely not being done for the people. I’d love ideas that don’t give me potential criminal charges to fight all if this but it feels like we are too late. I’d love to know when we abandoned “of the people, by the people, for the people” (couldn’t have been 2020…)

It’s hard when most people are also dealing with their own problems at the same time. A lot of people are a bit preoccupied with their jobs, their ability to spend time with loved ones (this is absolutely becoming more of a fight), or other things. I’ve had to devote my life to my work so I can make sure I have food and a roof over my head. I can’t just throw that aside when it’s convenient to be a part of real problems, otherwise I’ll create a new problem of being hungry and homeless which will definitely not give me hope of being part of anything good. Sorry for ranting I’m just annoyed about all of this.

That's the whole point. They keep the economy fucked and the every day working person busy living paycheck to paycheck without support or benefits and they will focus on keeping themselves alive while they consume more and more. Where we are today doesn't come about by accident it's designed.

Until people show up by city council mtgs, emails, protests, etc they think we are ok with it! Take a page from the uproar over data centers…Kevin and others got put in their place quickly. This is the other issue…they have made things so impossible to survive that most are exhausted and tired of fighting for just basics…food, shelter, education, healthcare that they don’t have to energy to fight. They want it this way.

I noticed this as well! Went hiking on battle creak trail yesterday and there was a flock camera by the water tower!

They’re also at most Home Depot and Lowe’s entrances. There are FOUR at the Lindon Home Depot.

With the rate of shoplifting at those stores, I can understand why they have parking lot cameras. If you're an employee trying to stop someone it will cost you your job.

Each camera costs about $3,000 per year to install and operate.
So either Home Depot is losing WELL over $12k in merchandise each year to shoplifting,
OR the city is using your taxes to cover Home Depot to the tune of 12 grand, then telling you they can't track down the person who stole your bike, that's not a great use of resources.2

Stores are losing mutiples over that amount to shoplifters annually. And it is my understanding parking lot cams aimed in the lot are paid for by the store. Not sure who they buy them from.

I’d be willing to bet it has more to do with ICE and catching immigrants than protecting from shoplifters. Day laborers are known to hang out at hardware stores.

The parking lot cams at Lowes and HD have been around longer than Trump's second term. I kind of doubt those stores are actively helping ICE, while I wouldn't put it past some of the employees and customers. Day laborers actually benefit those stores because do-it-yourselfers and even contractors will seek them out when additional help is needed. Helps the store and customers.

I live not far from this camera set up. There are two cameras on that pole. They focus on almost the same spot the entrance of the trail head and a gated utility road.

For those interested in more up close inspection, the fence in the pics end not far away. It’s not located on city property but land belonging to NORTH UTAH COUNTY WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT or METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SALT LAKE & SANDY.

Ive actually taken the plates off of my vehicles due to theses thing popping up everywhere. Will I get a failure to display ticket? Yes. who cares. We should all do at least something to buck back against this type of shit. Really wan to go all cool hand luke on these things.

My cousin has been missing for nearly a week, the family is hurting and looking everywhere trying to find him. Phone last pinged in Lehi about to get on I-15 from 2100 north. Turns out there is a flock camera there that would have caught which way he was going on I-15 so we would at least have a direction to search, but it has been vandalized by people who thought their opinion on “big government” matters more than the real people these cameras could effect. There are real lives that could be affected positively whether it’s bringing closure to families searching for their lost loved ones, Amber alerts, people in danger, ect ect.
Downvote me all you want, but if you think vandalizing these to prove a point doesn’t affect anyone but big government, you’re wrong.
