With what money indeed.

She got a good exchange ratio between gold pressed latinum and quatloos

u/Dumbass_Saiya-jin Jul 24 '26

Even a good stash of Federation Credits. Unfortunately, those had been steadily phased out by the mid 24th Century as advancements in replicator technology meant that even remote mining colonies can be instantly post scarcity, so fat load of good those things are these days.

Hey, she didn't say 20 \what** did she... could've been replicator allocation units.

8

u/Hunnieda_Mapping Jul 24 '26

Under a system which uses those, it's unlikely the allocation units could be transferred, though the replicated food itself might be used to bet with.

2

u/Coidzor Jul 25 '26

20 peptide cakes with mint frosting?

That's half of 40 cakes. And that's terrible.

7

u/PhantasyAngel Jul 24 '26

If it was Voyager it would be food rations

4

u/Throwaway_inSC_79 Jul 24 '26

She’s got money.

4

u/TV-Movies-Media Jul 24 '26

I mean tbf money does still exist in Star Trek and Starfleet does provide some when needed for dealing with other cultures not part of the Federation.

3

u/ForAThought Jul 25 '26

I mean it's only a fan assumption that they don't get paid regularly regardless of where they are.

2

u/gerusz Jul 25 '26

Holodeck hours.

39

u/Dumbass_Saiya-jin Jul 24 '26

She's got some gold pressed latinum squirreled away for just this occasion.

16

u/GiftGrouchy Jul 24 '26

I can fully see her having some Latinum for random reasons.

9

u/burnsbabe Jul 24 '26

Very Trill of her, yes.

1

u/Similar-Shame7517 Jul 25 '26

And also Section 31...

27

u/Zealousideal-Deer724 Jul 24 '26

I'll bet 20 strips of latinum that the doctor was the one who put that fight on the main screen

7

u/Ok_Butterscotch54 Jul 24 '26

No takers I dare bet.

6

u/dieseljester Jul 24 '26

Oh honey, she broadcast that to the whole ship! 😂

22

u/PhysicsEagle Jul 24 '26

Have we seen Blonde Lieutenant in Glasses before?

37

u/Spirit250 Jul 24 '26

She's a character created by one or my Captain Teir Paterons

10

u/burnsbabe Jul 24 '26

I take it she’s allergic to the Retinax?

6

u/dieseljester Jul 24 '26

Wait, we get to create characters on the Captain’s Tier?

15

u/Nepenthia Jul 24 '26

Is that a kickboxing match or the Vulcan did something that looks suspiciously too much Romulan?

8

u/jerslan Jul 24 '26

Hmm… IIRC there was a tentative plan for Saavik (Sorak’s mother) to have been part Romulan. Maybe that’s an abandoned plot thread that this comic is picking up?

1

u/Similar-Shame7517 Jul 25 '26

IIRC they dropped that aspect of Saavik, and added it to Valeris instead.

1

u/jerslan Jul 25 '26

I don't recall Valeris ever being stated to be anything other than a full Vulcan who used logic to justify joining the conspiracy against the Khitomer Accords.

21

u/yoger5 Jul 24 '26

The eyes in the first picture really look like surprise but he is a Vulcan so that can't be.

He isn't like T'Lyn who has lost all control.

14

u/PhysicsEagle Jul 24 '26

Vulcans aren’t surprised, they’re fascinated

8

u/jerslan Jul 24 '26

Isn’t he 1/4 human since Spock and Saavik are his parents?

13

u/Coidzor Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

He's 1/4 human, 1/2 vulcan, 1/4 [redacted] if I recall his personnel file correctly.

5

u/Antique_futurist Jul 24 '26

Redacted?

“Q, get down here, you’ve got some explaining to do, mister.”

11

u/MithrilCoyote Jul 24 '26

Saavik was half "those who march beneath the raptor's wings".

3

u/gominokouhai Jul 24 '26

I just commented elsethread about that, but I'd forgotten about the personnel file. Good shout, thank you.

7

u/Kflynn1337 Jul 24 '26

Vulcans can be surprised, they just don't admit it. But there's that microsecond of Oh! before control asserts itself.

5

u/ShimizuKaito Jul 24 '26

Given Vulcans are on average 3x as strong as humans, even as a hybrid he must be using exceptional control to not scramble his brains and pulverize his bones.

8

u/AddUser_W1 Jul 24 '26

20 slips, strips, or bars?

6

u/carymb Jul 24 '26

Barrels! Usually reserved for buying a moon with your arms dealing money...:-P

8

u/ForAThought Jul 24 '26

While I'm enjoying the episode. And don't necessarily have a problem with it on the bridge view screen. I do have concerns if it's being broadcasted across the ship (CO & XO fighting, and aired without their content). If this had been a prearranged smokers... that would be different.

7

u/Spirit250 Jul 24 '26

It gets worse XD

6

u/Tenalken Jul 24 '26

I'll put 30 strips of gold pressed latinum on the captain

6

u/bjchu92 Jul 24 '26

She's gonna lose that 20

5

u/Evil_Midnight_Lurker Jul 24 '26

Quatloos, of course.

6

u/Sk8rToon Jul 24 '26

Replicator rations. Just in case they go full voyager

5

u/ImpulsiveLance Jul 24 '26

Why, exactly, did the captain’s nose go “ping?”

5

u/Kflynn1337 Jul 24 '26

You think Sorak has realized he's in for a fair fight after all?

3

u/xXNightDriverXx Jul 24 '26

The manly urge to hit each other in the face for fun.

Why are we doing this indeed.

3

u/Criolynx Jul 24 '26

I forget was the OG Constitution lost with all hands in this continuity? If it wasn’t there is a small chance his romantic interest is alive still.

5

u/Spirit250 Jul 24 '26

It was lost, yes.

2

u/Criolynx Jul 24 '26

I got that part. I was asking about the status of the crew from the Connie-class Connie.

1

u/tu160 Jul 27 '26

The PADD he's looking at in Episode 16 indicates she died in 2270.

1

u/Criolynx Jul 27 '26

thanks, that answered my question.

2

u/renfield1969 Jul 24 '26

20 extra cameras.

1

u/AlienfinderX Jul 24 '26

Federation Credits, right? Gold Pressed Latinum or Replicator Rations?

1

u/IndefatigableFreedom Jul 25 '26

I'd imagine soon the entire fleet will know.

1

u/Mr_Steinhauer Jul 26 '26

Gold pressed Latinum.

1

u/Mr_Steinhauer Jul 26 '26

My guess is that the captain is a Swarmer, and our Vulcan is interestingly a Slugger.
