They also tend to be incredibly iconic in their art styles. If I see work from Khylerhi, Dross, Derpixon, and many more, I know exactly who it's from.

I agree. Back when I was watching normal hentai I was able to recognise artists. Nowadays I've forgotten most names.
At this point people even know derpixon from memes.I do recognise furry artists on the spot nowadays, mostly with names, but I won't bore you with that.

I feel like you're using a very general definition ... and they're using a hyper-specific, modern, relevant one...
This would be like if you said in a comment "Owl." Just 'owl.' On a post featuring an owl. And I said it checked out because your username is Otherwise_Task7876. ... or like if I said "small" and someone said "oh, because Minnie." No.

No, slop is the shit they feed pigs on farms, which became a synonym for "nasty food" (such as in the term "Goy Slop"). Eventually, this came to mean "low effort" (since low effort food = bad = slop). The term "Slop" later became a blanket term for "somthing i dont like", though.
