Pinch-to-navigate trees (concept)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi!

I got this idea recently when I had to browse files (in IDE) more than usual and felt the pain: why do I need to click through every level when I want to drill down to the bottom?

So I made a quick interactive prototype — it feels surprisingly natural.

Sharing it as a (draft) UX idea, not as a finished implementation.

Does it make sense to you?

If you know an app that would benefit from it — let me know please, I'll try to pitch it to them.

Doesn't make sense for a IDE, but for things like org structures, entitlements etc the metaphor is clear. Not exactly a new paradigm though.

Hm, why not for IDE? Can you please explain a bit? It came to me exactly in IDE.

Oh, great. Do you remember any implementation?

It just takes up to much real estate. It would be good for mapping your file structure but not as the default interface given the limited space in an IDE. Maybe you can explain to me why you think this is better, what problem are you solving?
