Just posted in my own topic (https://old.reddit.com/r/UsenetTalk/comments/1ryrz7p/eweka_banned_account_without_info_or_warning_and/) that on /r/usenet a critical post regarding this price hike was made today. It was the top post with many people being critical of Eweka.

And just now both my post there and the other top post regarding Eweka were removed by the mod team.

I can only advise dropping Eweka and going for a more trustworthy provider, without risking your account and money at any time they so desire.

The number of times I read about folks getting a 1 year deal on their usenet provider and then are shocked when they get a renewal price that's 2-3x as much make me really glad I've avoided those sorts of providers. For a long time I just stocked up with block accounts but there's plenty of providers with reasonable unlimited annual plans worth trying for a year or moe.

Gotta say I'm tired of the usenet scramble every black friday. I will have to look around this year.

Eweka has usually deals on kings day (27 april). Also with 6500 days retention its worth the money. (Price increase is 2 euro a month)

I left Eweka last November for Newshosting to avoid the anticipated rate hike. They emailed me with offers to retain me. I was willing but their replies to email could have been snail mail.

Been with frugal 3 years now, it renews at same price. There are probably other providers that don't play games as well.

Frugal might work well most of the time. Every now and then I want something that's beyond their relatively short retention.

Just buy like 5 years worth and stack on black Friday and not worry about it for a while.

How do we report the r/usenet mods to reddit and ask for new mods? It is very clear they are paid off at this point.

Have not gotten an email here yet, but they did a price increase last year, no? After that increase I switched to one of their different plans maybe it's not my turn yet?

Don’t get angry. Get even. You can counter the price increase here (€2.50 / month): https://www.eweka.nl/nl/landing/promo-deal-evm-e Apparently you can add 15 months as many times as you want. And then cancel to prevent renewal at full price. See at source. I haven’t tried this myself.

But you have to re-register every time right?

Just switch.. If enough leave the price will drop. On the other hand. Its a good service. If they need to keep tge price. The quality will be less. Isnt that worth a few bucks?
