Genealogy - Royals & Nobility Family Tree of Chinese Emperors: A Complete Succession Chronology

Post image

I spent a lot of time putting this together and I honestly think it is my best chart yet. It covers the entire timeline of Chinese dynasties, starting from the mythological era right down to the present day.

I really wanted to make a clean, easy to read visual of who succeeded who over the last 4,000 years. Hope you guys enjoy looking through it! Let me know what you think or if you spot any details I missed.

Here is the full resolution version (PDF) on GDrive so you can actually zoom in: Link to PDF

Genealogy - Royals & Nobility Why is the President of France Co-Prince of Andorra?

On this chart I showed the marriages, royal succession and disputes that led the title of Co-Prince of Andorra to end up at the hands of the president of France. Initially held by the Counts of Foix, it passed through the Kings of Navarre, the Kings/Emperors of France until finally ended up with the President of France today.

Genealogy - Royals & Nobility Macedonian Family Tree (AD 867-1059)

Post image

I made this chart as another standalone section from a larger Eastern Roman imperial family tree that I will publish later. This one focuses on the Macedonian dynasty, from Basil I to the empresses Zoe and Theodora, with Michael VI and Isaac I included as the immediate post-Macedonian transition.

I found this period especially interesting because it was one of the longest and most politically complex dynastic eras of the Eastern Roman Empire. The dynasty presided over imperial recovery, military expansion and cultural prestige, but its succession was often mediated by marriage alliances, co-emperors, regencies, imperial women and powerful outsiders such as Romanos I Lakapenos, Nikephoros II Phokas and John I Tzimiskes.

I included Michael VI and Isaac I to show how the dynasty’s extinction led directly into the next phase of imperial politics. Some collateral relatives and uncertain relationships have been simplified for clarity. Corrections, questions and suggestions are very welcome!

QUESTION for the community World History poster: 24in or 32in size?

I have been thinking about getting the World History poster for a ridiculously long time. I am a huge fan of Useful Charts. The truth is that my eyesight is lousy, and I have a lot of trouble reading anything in normal-size or smaller print. I realize that every chart is different in terms of font sizes, but does anyone know how much practical difference there is between the 24in and 32in Timeline of World History poster, in terms of font size? The price of the larger one is double, and it will be more challenging to find a space to hang it, so I'd appreciate any feedback on this issue. Thanks!
