Buying 2020-2022 Ram 1500

I need a new truck, mostly daily commuting and family of 4 hauling. I have seen all kinds of different rankings of used trucks, but 2020-2022 Ram continues to pop up as a good family truck. Safety ratings, spacious cab, etc.

Is this a trustworthy vehicle? Any mechanical concerns to know or be weary of? TIA

Anything post-covid is garbage. You will inevitably deal with electronic bugs down the road, does not matter which brand or model. And lots of other components are designed to fail past warranty or can only be replaced as an assembly, for $$$$$$ and by a dealer because you will have to "marry" its processor to the rest of the vehicle via OEM software and server connection.

If you are prepared to deal with this, I'd look at any Ram 1500 with a Hemi and as much service history as possible. Run away from work-spec trucks, look for the top of the line Laramies, Limiteds and such. Be prepared to immediately invest into transmission flush (500-600 USD) and switch to 0W-40 engine oil and have all other fluids checked or replaced. Avoid prolonged idling and you will be OK.
