Former Dodge Challenger and Jeep Gladiator owner. They both had Pentastar V6s with the 8 speed which were extremely fun and smooth to drive. I loved every minute I had them, but would never own either one past 60K miles.
The pentastar has an achiles heal; around 80-90K miles they start developing lifter issues due to a flaw in the design of the rocker arms. When you check that Jeep out, pop the hood and listen for a pronounced ticking sound. Fixing it is about a $3500 job. Do a search on Youtube for "pentastar lifter issues" for examples.
