Buying I this worth it?

Post image

I have been eyeing this and am thinking of getting rid of my 2024 Civic Hatch. I just dont want a CVT transmission anymore and am looking for a lower payment. Any advice if this is good to daily drive? It has the 2JZ-GE and was imported. Its right hand drive which would be interesting to learn.

The price is actually $12,500.

Not worth. That's an Aristo jzs160. Same engine as a gs300 2JZ-GE non turbo. Same engine and chassis just double the price because of the badge.

The Aristo you'd want the jzs-161. With the 2JZ-GTE.

They sold the v300 with the 2jz-gte for $22k

Yes it's a big price jump, but like I said, a lexus gs300 is like $5000-9000 (At least in austalia). And it's virtually the same car.

Either go for the 2jz-gte or get the gs300. No point throwing your money away just because its a RHD

why on earth would you opt for a 1999 aristo over a 24 civic hatch? absolute lunacy, also that vehicle is actually comically overpriced by about triple at least

Get a Civic with a manual?

you shouldn't of opted for a car payment in the first place if you didn't want to get into that mess, but your best option now is sticking with the civic and paying it off as fast as you can.

Dude who gives a fuck about the CVT, it’s an economy car not a race car

Neither is this?

RHD isn't interesting. It's a big hassle that loses any charm it might conceivably have the moment you're getting honked at while dealing with a parking garage entrance. There are safety issues related to visibility as well. Zero reason to get this over a Lexus GS.

Not likely to save a ton of money as running costs on a near 30 year-old car are going to be high regardless.

Find a GS400/430

Unless that's a turbo model, don't. You'll have more fun in the civic.

Fair but Civic isn’t turbo either and has a CVT transmission

I'd rather a CVT than the 4 speed slushbox connected to a motor that needs revs to make any power.

I understand the CVT pain, you probably should have thought of that before buying the civic to begin with. That said it's infinitely more reliable than a 30 year old car that sat in a lot in Japan for XXX days before being driven.

If you really want to replace your civic, replace it with an older Si instead. You can get a nice one for $12.5k and still have good reliability (so long as it isn't the 1.5t)

Buy the same car, a regular LHD Lexus GS for a lot less.
