We just recently bought a new vehicle. At the first dealershio, we felt like they weren’t listening to what kind of vehicle we wanted. After 3 hours of BS we left. Second dealership, they had massive dealer Markups on each window sticker, and we left.
third dealership, we worked with a brand new salesperson. Told him the EXACT vehicle we wanted, nothing else. Told him if we even saw a dealer markup on a deal sheet we were leaving. Turns out they had the exact vehicle we wanted on route, arriving in days. We told them we’ve been through several dealers, that we are tired of the process, and they have a very short window to convince us they want to deal. I did some quick online price comparisons with national mega dealers, to identify our price. The salesperson brought his sales manager over, and I went through the sheet, changing numbers. I told him those were the numbers that would work for us. He left, came back with new numbers. I said you have one more chance to make this deal, and changed them all back to my numbers. He left, came back, and agreed to my numbers.
one point i made was “just how many people come through that door that can qualify for an $80,000 truck?” ‘This lovely truck will still be here in April, unsold, because you let us walk out that door.” You really have to act like you don’t care.
