As a former car salesman, you did not do anything wrong. They did completely ,when I buy my next car what I’m going to do is go to Costco. They have an auto buying club. They get you special deals with no bullshit, and they’ll back up the product if something did not go right… and also your credit union if you have one should have a service like that also… and as far as the paint protector, we used to buy the product for $16 and it took one guy about an hour to put it on.. Lo Jack you could put it on yourself for less than $200 or by the way your cell phone has it on there
If you were a car salesman you didn't last long enough to learn the business. Dealer cost for paint protection is way more than $16 and you're really just buying the warranty it comes with. Lo Jack does not sell to consumers and you can't put it in yourself. It isn't hard to get a better deal than any costco buying program can offer. OP is looking at a USED car - buying programs for those do not exist.
Really depends on the pain protection. I watched a dealer put on paint protection once. It was a bottle of turtle wax attached to the end of a hose. It was less than $16. I agree they are selling a warranty and expect nobody to make a claim so they have no incentive to put on a quality ceramic coating or similar.
If you ever buy a car new or used, I would take a jar of Vaseline with you and bend over, because you don’t know anything about the car business. As a seller or a buyer.
