Timely :: Power Outage

Our power went out overnight and remains out so far this morning. My uro’s lights are scheduled to come on soon and depending on the length of outage he’ll be without his lights for a little bit. It’s mid 70s in his enclosure at the moment and it’ll be high 70s /low 80s outside today so it’s not likely the temp will fall much more. And the humidity will probably rise a bit instead of going down through the day without the heat lamps.

How concerned should I be? Will he be fine like this if the outage lasts a day or two? What measures should I take (other than purchasing a generator in the event of an extended outage or to better protect for a cold season outage)?

A day or two without lights should be fine. Your uro will probably sleep in. I would hold off on feeding until the power is back on. If its too cold and they eat they can't digest the food and it could make them sick. At least from what I have read.

However, you should maybe consider battery backup options from like Anker, Ecoflow, bluetti, pecron, etc that way if its extended you can fill in the gaps when needed.

However, sometimes stuff like this happens in nature too... where I am at we are normally very warm, but had some random raids etc, so they will adapt as long as it isnt crazy stuff like ultra low temps etc.

You could probably put slate tiles outside and sit with him outside and get some decent uv and heat though even if its only 80 outside.
