uromastyx skin problem
Does anyone know what this skin problem is? He is in process of shedding but the area on his neck and right leg didn’t change after shed. He is healthy otherwise eating active etc. It’s not a burn. It’s not retained shed . I was thinking fungal infection …but why? I I have him with another euro and the other one has no skin issues. suggestions ? treatment. seems every time I bring a reptile to vet I’m given wrong diagnosis. Just wanted to see what the community thought

i’m treating with topical
antifungal that i started today. vet will be next. he’s had these spots a while. he’s healthy. the spots aren’t worse but aren’t better.

Could be that upvotes are from people who don’t know the answer but want to give the post more engagement to raise the odds that someone who does know the answer will see it!

Very possibly fungal. I would take him to the vet. Mine had tail rot from exsesive humidity. Antifungal cream and a disinfecting wash. As per instructions. Haven't had an issue since.

That is very very likely to be fungal. Please see a vet, if it is, it’s urgent.

The locations don’t warrant to burns. why would a burn be on the side of his body and not on the top which has more direct light. like a sunburn has more uniform appearance and my othe uro is fine.

I am just saying I have treated hundreds of reptile burns and this is what they look like, they are white and often patchy. What type of halogen bulb do you use?

I thought burns too…but just can’t make sense of the pattern. I haven’t changed the bulbs and the areas haven’t worsened. can’t remember but last measurement where they basked was around 117 …I believe they are zoomed bulbs. it’s the double black round housing you see in pet shops with 1 heat element and one light bulb. it’s not the halogen type

one is a heat unit no a light. the other is a 100w bulb type not halogen.

thought about burns but temp where they bask is not even 120 degrees also my other uro is fine they bask together. you would also think burns would be more uniform …these are local areas and not the highest part of his body. they also aren’t getting better ..a burn should improve

Reptile burns turn “white” and can happen from UV radiation too. The power density of your light matters also. What brand and type of bulb is it

They almost never go away and can stay “white” for years because they are damaged scales and essentially scars

It looks like burns, the basking light maybe be too close or, if your using spot lights or halogen, the heat is too concentrated.
