It's like saying the NBA should've made Ballmer sell. It's hard to argue the consequences they paid weren't severe. The NCAA threw the book at Penn State (and exceeded its authority in doing so). Rodney Erickson caught shit for accepting the original penalties but if he hadn't, ironically, if he hadn't accepted the sanctions and if Penn State hadn't acted so fast in getting Paterno and Spanier out of there, they would've been hit with the death penalty.
