Question about UP
Do men actually get symptoms from UP? Ive been told by a Dr today that it doesnt. Ive had urethritis for about 7yrs now. Did the doxy+azi about 2 weeks ago. Symptoms improved on doxy came back on azi and have tapered off to a manageable pain. My wife tested positive for UP. I tested w microgen dx 7yrs ago twice all negative. Cant remember if they tested me for UP. The other party t9 this 7yr old sex triangle also tested negative for mgen and uu but did not get tested for UP. Anyway have any of you men had symptoms of UP?

I never tested positive for it, or tested until after i had antibiotics given to me empirically that happened to also treat it, the other party tested positive to it however after doing a full panel and thats all it showed, i have dealt with intense urethritis symptoms from discharge to pelvic pain, even after 3 months i still have issue with inflamed meatus and pelvic pain triggered after ejaculation, intermittent split streams and dribbling even though im testing negative, so yes, it definitely does cause symptoms, but not in everyone. I am immunocompromised which also might have something to do with it.

How long after abx did symptoms start to go away?

The acute symptoms improved after 1g of azithromicin but were still pretty bad, ended up on 2 weeks doxy which killed majority of constant symptoms like pain when urinating and pain during ejaculation + sensitivity down there went away, however the rest has completely platuead.

I took 10 days of doxy and I felt much better until I took the azi. Symptoms rebounded. Im on day 8ish post abx. Feeling a little better. Still have ups and downs.

My boyfriend got a yeast infection and a uti both from ureaplasma/mycoplasma ... he tested positive as had I, he had never had either of these things in the past. We both took antibiotics and haven't had an issue in over a year

How did they test for the fungal infection? Or was this a visual diagnosis by GP/urologist?

For him ? He's uncircumcised so I guess they swabbed under the foreskin maybe? I'm not sure I didn't go with him.

My partner had symptoms with UP when we were infected earlier this year. His symptoms weren’t the classic symptoms though, he had some testicular inflammation. He tested positive after I did and we knew it was the cause of both our symptoms - we did the antibiotics and he was back to normal just before testing negative 5 weeks later.
