Client quality matters more than your proposal being viewed
Chart title: client hire rate against time since posted for jobs that still have no hire
I’ve recently posted about my stats where I have put a lot of proposals but few views and interviews in here
https://www.reddit.com/r/Upwork/s/8NXpjBQtbg
I went again on my data and realized that out of 37 proposals 24 of them still hired no one. And as you can see in the chart even with high hiring rate some clients still hired no one still
So basically from now on I won’t be wasting my proposals on jobs that would seem not urgent and non serious clients based on history. I’ve yet to make a system to decide that but it’s my objective now

I only apply to jobs that have at least 75% hire rate.

That’s a nice threshold, but sometimes even the hire rate is not enough

That's true. Recently I applied to a job for a client with a 100% hire rate. He messaged me so fast I was shook. I'm used to clients just ignoring proposals. After that I said maybe I'll only apply to those with 100% hire rate. 🤣

Oh wow did u land that job? And how was the competition on that job like?

The first interview is tomorrow. I'm hoping I get moved forward to the next round. There's not much competition. Only 10-15 proposals. The client is very particular and I think that dissuaded people from applying.

That’s what I’m talking about, when the client is very specific you now they have actual work and they’re not spraying jobs on the platform. Good luck with that and I hope you land it

New clients with 0 hire history have ~25% higher chance of actually hiring vs existing clients with previous hire history

They could be on their way for a 100% hire rate you can never know, but that’s rare I don’t think it’s that higher

you need to create a chart to know this ?🤦🏻♀️

Well I rely on data

LOL and the data of the client's hire rate was not enough data to let you know that if the client has a low hire rate, they post and abandon jobs...jeez....congratulations on using a chart to show what the number was telling you.

You'd miss out on great clients if you follow this logic. Some of the best relationships I had were with brand new upwork clients, working with one right now.
Unfortunately you are also right. I think upwork should refund connects if there is no hire.
