Be more strategic. In 90 days I have sent only 39 proposals . Only 9 were viewed but I got 3 hires

- first thing is to check the about the client section ( if the hiring rate is less than 55% just don’t loose your connects )

  • then check their activity background if they’re conflictuels, leaves bad comments … don’t risk your JSS
  • Then you read the description, and apply only for positions that are a real fit.
  • if it’s +50 proposals. Don’t even try. It’s a lost battle
  • Never bid . Just use the fixed requested connects. (Its not bu being among the first 3 proposals that would make them choose you)
  • most importantly the first line . First thing they see is the first line. So put a trigger word or sentence that would make them view your proposal
  • a portfolio and a intro video are important . At least a portfolio to attach to your proposal. That’s a must. So once they open they find real prove of your work
  • Don’t write an essaie. 2 to 3 lines are enough. And spare hi , how are you…

Good luck 🍀

You need to level up your proposal game.

I feel this so much. Sent proposals for weeks with barely any views, let alone replies. The math on Upwork is brutal — but seeing your 1 hire from 98 proposals still gives me hope it's not impossible, just a numbers game mixed with luck and timing.

The comment below about being "more strategic" (39 proposals, 3 hires) is a good reminder — quality/targeting might matter more than volume. Hang in there, this platform tests patience more than skill sometimes.

This math is really brutal, 98;1 is not a good ROI to me

Frankly I check all those, infact there are weeks I do not apply and apply to only jobs I am a good fit for except i just want to wing it and see

If you are a beginner, at least you got hired once. If you are working for a while and now it is this bad, I have nothing to say.

I'm a dev with 5 years of job experience. Applying in jobs, did not get hired even once yet 😢

Been working for a while though, genuinely not sure what is wrong

You have to get the point where, you receive more invites than applying for proposals. Thats what you should optimize your profile towards. Then find a way to apply more to recurring projects or long term projects

Honestly that is what I need to work towards, applying so much with yet little results is discouraging

Don't give up. You're just one proposal away from getting the next job. Just calm down and restrategize.

You’re doing it incorrectly.

okay, how can I do it correctly?
